Post Paralyzed player looking for help.

    Hi all.
First off I need to state my limitations. I am a paralyzed US Marine veteran that has 2 usable fingers on my left hand (for which I use a 5 button mouse) and 1 usable finger on the right which is mostly to press the up arrow key. I have thus far been able (to my own amazement) been able to cap 3 toons and even cap 1 3rd lifer.

I am only able to use 1 active hotbar for boosts/clickies/weapon switches/finishing moves. I can click on other hotbars I have up but the problem there is doing so while fighting.

Within these limitations, I'd still love to try the following builds but I need to know if my difficulties in button-mashing preclude it.

The Godhand build. (12 fighter/8 monk)
    An arcane archer/10kstars monkcher.
An arcane archer bard. Recommendations for a specific bardcher would be appreciated.

Please feel free to suggest any other interesting builds as well. I'm not interested in playing another barbarian, fighter, rogue, artificer or paladin, as I've done them to death. I cannot play casters or healers.

I've researched the builds on the forums but I'm readying a TR and would hate to level it to find that I cannot physically play it well, especially in end-game content.

Thanks in advance for any advice. Please feel free to ask questions or tell me if I've overlooked information you may need in order to answer.

This is a touch off topic, but as you did not mention if your legs were paralyzed or not, but this could be very helpful.

Again, hate me all you want, but creating a whole new realm takes priority over a broken bag. This is pretty much true of a few of the other issues that crept in today also.

    Thumbs up

First, and foremost... THANK YOU, and a +1 for your service!
Second, not to get too personal, but to empathize, i too was whlchr bound for nearly 3 years, and DDO really really helped me get over myself and learn to have fun again.
    Thank you Warner Bros

Now, playing mostly ranged, i tend to be extremely mobile, so i went with a Kensai II for HP and Feats and BAB... high dex... etc etc. I constantly circle-strafe and jump over the enemy and shoot them from behind etc. Thus, i dont know YOUR playstyle, or if using a lot of buttons is compatible to your setup.

Anyway, the route to really go for (IF Ranged) is without a doubt the 10kStarz, its very high damage, and very worthwhile.
    Good luck to you

    Hey man,

First of all thank you for your service. Secondly, what server are you playing on currently?

I really think the AA might not be a bad - somewhat new build for you to try out. Switching between various bows and/or TWF weapon sets should be fairly easy.

I am a purist, and see a whole lot of combo multi-class builds on the forums here. Many people can pull them off and accomplish a lot wish a splash of this or that. For me, I prefer to specialize in one class all the way to 20 whenever possible.

If you wanted to do a blend after playing so many melee classes so far, you might like this AA build (12monk/6ranger/2fighter)

    Thread for build: http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=357819

Hope this helps you out! I have no experience myself with AA builds. My one ranger is a Dwarven Tempest 18Rgr/2Ftr. I typically open up on Raid bosses with a Min II bow and then wade in with dwarven waraxes for melee.

Best of luck with your build!

One of the things I switched around on my keybindings was replacing forward with run. So instead of having to hold down the forward button, I only have to tap it once to start moving and then once to stop. Something to consider. It woud free up your ability to do something else while moving. I've notived most people don't know that the scroll wheels can be clicked like a middle button. Most mice made in the last 4 years can do this. But you're a gamer, so you probably already know that. Maybe reconfigure the middle click to be run?

I have a pretty old Nostromo gaming pad and it still works great. It has 14 keys. One cycles up the chain of hot bars, one back down. 10 are my hotkeys which makes spellcasting easy, one is jump and one is T for mouse look mode. I have one hand on my mouse and one on the Nostromo. It's like changing gears on a manual transmission, only you have 20 freaking gears! It takes a bit of getting used to. For example, my lvl 16 PaleMaster has 6 hot bars, but I only use 2 of them during combat. To keep it straight in my head, my high level spells are up one from my low level spells. I think of them like first gear and second. I have another set of two hot bars, but specifically set up to deal with undead. It gets confusing so I trend to run Necro or House J for a strech at a time.

Maybe that gives you some ideas that might be applicable?
