But they aren't adding new difficulty modes. They are renaming Elite as "Epic Normal". So Epic Normal isn't a new added difficulty mode. It's a renamed difficulty mode.
Ok, that's not fair. They're adding new difficulty modes. Epic Hard/Elite, perhaps. And the way they're making these new difficulty modes more difficult is by reimposing their moronic blanket immunities. This is absurd. Surely they can do a better job of making Epic Hard/Elite more difficult than by imposing moronic blanket immunities.
And by the way, folks wanted to play NEW difficulty modes without having their abilities nerfed. Epic Normal is not a NEW difficulty mode. It's the old Elite. So all the new difficulty modes are currently more difficult only because Turbine has imposed idiotic blanket immunities.

This is the only computer game I have ever played and will ever play. When it ceases to be fun I'll go back to the productive things I used to do before this took over my free time. If that time comes sooner rather than later then I will be sad because I will be out the cost of the expansion. If it comes later rather than sooner then I won't feel that way as I will have got some play value for my money.
Sadly I am easily influenced by these forums and feel that the former is more likely than the latter, which also makes me sad.

First, most epics on live are actually easier than most Amrath Elites. Second, there is a DEV on record stating that the current content development team thinks (and mistakenly, in his view) that the current Elite difficulty (presumably he has in mind endgame Elite quests/raids) should be the new base Epic difficulty.
There is a staggeringly large difference between saying "should be" and "is".

Hey Devs! Let's give Warpriests and Eldritch Knights some loving, kay? :<
Whenever Turbine is swinging the nerfbat with a vengeance they are also making a ton of other changes.
What I always seem to see are people focusing on the changes they don't like...claiming it has destroyed their build.....and not adapting to the changes and realizing with a shift here and a wiggle there they are actually probably MORE powerful than they were before the change.
I have been playing 5+ years...I can honestly say Turbine has done nothing but made this game easier and more enjoyable as time has gone on....they haven't ruined any of my builds yet and even gave me alternatives to fix ones I myself botched.
They aren't ruining any of the mediocre builds or toons in mediocre gear. They're giving them massive boosts. They're ruining the toons many folks have worked long and hard to build, given the current old (and now scrapped) ruleset and gearlist.
If you weren't ever a member of the group that worked long and hard to build toons they liked given the current ruleset and gearlist, it's understandable that you aren't just not upset, but pleased. The folks who have put in this work, however, aren't pleased to have to pay Turbine money to fix the toons Turbine has botched. And I doubt most of them will do it.
For any devs reading (wishful thinking I know) please take the following into account regarding the new expansion:
-We LIKE 3.5 dnd very very much, along with the community which for the most part is much more mature than W*W
-We are here playing DDO because we do NOT like W*W, please don't make it more like W*W, if that happened we'd just up and leave to go TO W*W as it's a larger game with a lot more content.
Just don't go there, leave things with 3.5 dnd, which is what we had in the first place.

The fact is there are very good changes coming as well as some changes that aren't very thrilling. Turbine isn't completely run by morons and monkeys if things don't go well they will adjust like they always did. Why can't people just wait and see, if you like the game patience is worth it.
