Default Turbine, consider truth in advertising??

    Just a plea moving forward.

If you are going to advertise a product and sell it, please consider some truth in advertising. Labeling this as an "expansion pack" is true. But you left out some VERY important points. Perhaps the ad selling it should include such tidbits as:

This expansion pack includes MANY changes such as:
    1. Armor Class
    2. Spell Power
    3. Feats
    4. Items
    5. Class changes
    6. UI changes
    (and so on...)

At least if it had been advertised this way, I could have made an informed decision with my purchase, instead of buying an expansion pack and getting a practically new version of the game I thought I was purchasing.

The way it was done leaves me feeling like I was duped, and I don't think this is the way to earn customer trust or earn more customer money.

    Thank you!

The only thing positive for those of us who feel duped, cheated, or worse; would be if the press that Turbine seems to care so much about starts with a lot of negative feedback.

Won't really ever happen since they will control who it goes out to for review. We already know there are a number of fanboi magazines that just love Turbine and DDO. Any negative press will just be burried beneath the tons of famboi articles.

Those changes are technically not just part of the expansion pack; they are changes in the entire game. You can't option out by not buying the expansion pack.

I'm angry about the open beta stuff too, but this is a non-argument.

True, but you COULD option out by not spending your money on the thing you expect to get, only to get served something completely different.

Yes. That pretty much sums it up.

You can think of the 'expansion' as two parts. The part you are paying for is the new content areas, Epic Destinies, new Challenges, and Druid (although VIPs get Druid and Challenges for free).

Pretty much everything else is standard game updates. Everyone will see those changes, regardless of whether they bought the expansion or not.

But had I known the changes that were coming I wouldn't have paid the $200+ that I paid for xpack points and etc for multiple accounts.

Here is what I said earlier that was moved to the big thread.:

You do realize this type of change in addition to everything else is why the playerbase doesn't trust you?!?

I am wondering seriously about a class action suit as you fraudulently lead people to believe we were getting something then are presenting something totally different? Not the same game different ac, different casting, different engine, different to hit mechanism, doifferent UI, displacement, hard to kil, different etc etc.

Not being a doooooooooooom'er here being 100% honest as I am sure many people wouldn't have prepaid hadwe known what was coming. I forgone would rather have waited to see what stuff you"fixed"!

I was excited about the expansion, but the changes I am reading about leave me a little frustrated.

And the fact that the transition from subscription-only DDO to the current Unlimited model had a more consistent and credible beta test leaves me worried as well as frustrated. There are far more substantial changes happening to the game now versus then... and I am of the opinion that this supposed beta test means utterly nothing to the Devs. Nothing. Getting "beta access" was a selling point byline for the xpack more then an honest attempt to actually test a **** thing. Just one more Charlie Brown run at the football...

    That's exactly how I feel.

Turbine is really testing my limit...

Yes. One of things I did not pay money for was this... "Hard to Kill" thing.

Incorrect. You do not need to purchase the expansion "gain" all of that.

The "Truth" is that these changes will be effecting ALL players. Not just those that purchase the expansion.

I think I would rather have been able to try all these game mechanic changes to see if I still want to play with them in place before parting with my $80 for an expansion that I may not want to play after all. All this makes me feel sad and frustrated.

I haven't bought the expansion yet, but from all the second hand accounts I am seeing, I'm glad that I still have my $80. The real question is whether the game has been so borked that even the existing content I own (and I own it all except for the Cannith challenges) is still going to be worth playing.

Oh well, its summer in my part of the world, and I have plenty of yard work to do while the weather is nice.

Maybe the game will be unborked by the time fall comes. As always, the biggest step is for Turbine to realize that they borked the game. If that takes too long, the game may not be fixed until the snow flies.

As a Premium player, I can afford to be patient. I'd hate to be a VIP paying a sub and have to deal with this.

I am trying to take a deep breath and a wait-and-see attitude. It will probably all work out fine, although I do wish they'd clue us in to these changes before time instead of after the fact.

That is the mature attitude to have. I am trying to do the same thing.

My hopes is that they are reading all of this feedback, and they're considering: "Yeah, okay...good points. Yeah, we can see that blanketing is bad. We get that. Now, how can we subtly rework this in a way that meets our goals, appeases the community, and doesn't put us over our timeline?"

I'm not disagreeing with your assessment of the changes. I'm just saying that it has nothing to do with truth in advertising.

Yes, I'm being semantic. I just generally figure that it's easier to gain credibility in an argument if the terms are accurate.

I am not sure how calling people out is being helpful?
