    Default Pure or splash?

I want to make a paladin, but should I go pure or should I splash two monk for two feats and evasion?

That depends: what do you plan to do with your pally?

Quite frankly, I do not have much experience playing melee characters at higher levels, so I figured that I should start off with a melee character that is capable of healing itself; it would have been too much of a shock to transition from playing characters such as warchanters and melee favored souls to a character without any innate healing abilities.

However, I also do not want to sacrifice too much damage to attain self-sufficiency.

Evasion may get over rated on the forums but IMO the monk splash makes a lot of sense even if you weren't getting evasion out of the deal. Many paladin go 18/2 pally/fighter which grants the extra feats (and has the added bonus of granting tower shield prof for those DoS pally), but I like evasion enough to recommend the monk splash.

Yeah, I considered taking two levels of fighter but it simply did not seem worth it to me due to the fact that I had no intentions of ever being a tank. The two levels of monk made more sense for my goal of a dual-wielding paladin.

What two extra feats should I take though?

If self-sufficiency/-healing is your goal, then have a look at Aryenne.

Yeah, I looked at it and was very intrigued by it... in fact, it was the inspiration for my asking whether I should splash two monk or not.

However, it would be a 32 or 34 point build instead of a 36 point build, and it would most likely be a half elf instead of a human and would use scimitars... I have some greensteel scimitars on an alt and I have always loved dual wielding scimitars anyway.

Aryenne should be adaptable to any race; 34-pt HE w/scimitars should work out fine:

If you want DoS, take Shield Mastery instead of Imp Sunder. I presumed a +2 Supreme tome before TRing, but all that's required is +2 DEX for ITWF/GTWF and +2 CHA for DM III.

Now that I think about it, I have one question. What armor should I wear, and should I at times wear medium or heavy armor even at the cost of evasion?

I very strongly encourage you to go HotD instead of KotC. KotC is an incremental DPS increase, HotD is a quantum survivability increase, especially if you solo a lot. (I would also go Monk dilettante instead of Rogue dilettante if you solo. More heal amp always works, more sneak attack only works if you don't have aggro, which is very rarely if you're soloing.)

Armor-wise, DT and maybe the Frozen Tunic. Do you have anything specific in mind of the heavy armors that you would want to wear?

This is not intended to be an AC build; and in fact Aryenne relies on getting hit to recharge her SPs. I can't think of any reason I'd give up Evasion for med or hvy armor on this build, esp. if not going DoS.

I'm leaning towards outfits, partly for the AC from the monk splash, but mostly because they swap quickly and sometimes handwraps will be your best DPS.

For leveling, I agree HotD > KotC - except when fighting EOs, duh - but which you should go with endgame depends on what you spend most of your time fighting. I might even advocate DoS. Fortunately, there's room for some experimentation to figure what works best for the OP's playstyle.

Stat pts are pretty tight on this build; what would you drop to get WIS to 13?

If not going for UMD, I'd consider taking FvS dilly instead, to use CCW wands and Heal scrolls.

I would drop Charisma to 14 because I just don't like Divine Might, and drop Str to 15 to scare up the other points. I might even drop Charisma to 12, although that would really just be out of spite.

Armor-wise, DT and maybe the Frozen Tunic. Do you have anything specific in mind of the heavy armors that you would want to wear?
Yeah, I have just recently started considering going with Hunter of the Dead and I believe that I will definitely be doing so now. However, I will not be going with monk dilettante, due to the facts that I do not solo and there are no stats that I would like to drop in order to fit 13 wisdom in.

Favored soul dilettante is not something I have considered, in all honesty... I think that I will go with this until my UMD is good enough to use those on its own.

Anyway, thanks everyone for your help, I am TRing my favored soul into a paladin as we speak!

If you want DoS, take Shield Mastery instead of Imp Sunder. I presumed a +2 Supreme tome before TRing, but all that's required is +2 DEX for ITWF/GTWF and +2 CHA for DM III.
Since I am going HotD instead of KotC, how would this affect the enhancements shown here?
