This is really my single biggest issue and one that I'd love to see an answer to from someone that actually knows..

Why spring this on us on open beta day?

You guys did so well in the closed beta. Your thoughts were well documented, and clear. There was a great deal of interaction between the players and the development team and for the first time ever in this game, I actually got to understand the WHY of things. I felt like our opinions mattered, and you Turbine folk were working well with the player base.

Sometimes we were told "not going to happen because..."

Then this pops up all of a sudden and we're all standing around wondering what the heck happened?

(Hint... A little back info may just clear this up? You know, kind of like how you explained the AC changes, spell changes, poison changes, etc...)

Heh, that's ok. I can punch it in the face until I'm good and ready to rip it apart. It'll be like Touch of Death on crack.

Feel free to go back and actually read the posts and then come back and quote acurately what was said and in context.

    Default Another possibility:

4.) The Dev team is all on bath salts. Fernando got nekkid and threatened to eat someone's face if they didn't nerf displacement! AKA Turbine zombie apocalypse.

In all seriousness, here's how I see it:

    1. AC Changes introduce a bunch of new scenarios. Once the devs see all the math and situations brought on by the community, they realize that displacement PLUS ac = a little too much. Result: minor nerf. Workaround: shroud clickies, scrolls?

    2. Hard to Kill: You know as well as I do that instakills have been tossed around a lot as being OP. Soooo, they put a nerf on it. Guys, it's only on epic hard and leet. Work around: Run epic norm.

    My opinions on the changes:

    1. It's a kick the acorns for bards who already have some sore acorns.
    2. Dunno. If drop rates are similar from norm to leet epics, then I don't care much. Run norm. If drop rates vary a lot, then this will kinda pi$$ me off. Good thing I already like sorcs better.

OP's point is entirely accurate. Nerfs, buffs, whatever - either way half the population will explode in a frenzy. We'll either adapt and overcome or those that don't will be drowned out by those that have. The nerfing is not the issue - the 11th hour imposition of such broad and significant changes, when we just had a closed beta with excellent communication between the fans and the devs is what is so troubling. Why weren't any of these disclosed in the closed beta? What purpose does not disclosing it until now serve?

I am really frustrated with the stealth nerfs. Just go out and tell us. Sure we'll wail and gnash our teeth because our panties are twisted into knots, but it gives Turbine the benefit of disclosure. Love the changes or not, the communication from the devs has been very refreshing and positive. This nerf by stealth and last-minute alterations (especially after such a enlightening back and forth during the closed beta) undermines all of that. At best it gives off a slight patronizing air - at worst it reeks of heavy condescension.
