    Default Ranger Monk build

    I am going crazy planning a monkcher. So I settled on helf Fighter12/Monk7/Wiz1 (Thank you Shat for the advice...)
    But I was playing around and came up with this. Will give me an obscene number of feats. More than I need but it can be very fun, I think. Even too augment summaning. Just becasue I could. Will give me great burst from 10k and manyshot. And even melee should be OK.

    1. Does this sound good? Is it that worse than KensaiII/7Monk/1Wiz?
    2. Does devotion from ranger stack with monk imp. recovery? --> YES

    3. Will my melee be good? I have all the TWF feats, so it should be.
    4. Is crit range bludgeon worth taking? -->NO

    5. Does sunder worth with ranged? I can take imp sunder. --> NO
    6. Another toughness instead of bludgeon wep focus? --> Maybe

    Any other comments?



    EDIT:
    Took into account some comments.
    Also Added another option. Will take mental tough feat - no wiz. Gives me Imp evasion that Monk gets at lvl 9.

    To start with your questions. (I assume they are about the 12rgr/7mnk/1wiz you posted.

    1. Ill get back to this later in the post to sum up

    2. Yes, they stack. Also stack further with human imp. rec. from Helf. If you take all human and monk imp rec, wear jidz-tet'ka in fire stance and have 10% and 20% healing amp on (DT armor for example) your cure moderate wounds will heal you for over 100 points for no more than 8sp. Ofc fire stance in this build is not advised for ranging, though you will still be healed for about 80-90 without jidz-tet'ka. Oh, and you will want some ranger devotion too. 2 should suffice, 3 if you like big numbers lol.

    3. Your melee will almost only depend on the handwraps you wear. And make sure you take stunning fist! With that much wisdom you cannot leave it out. After all its dependant on total level not only monk level.

    4. Both yes and no. If you find yourself meleeing alot then yes. Also if you have no ki-enhancing gear then yes (for ki-regen). This will mainly depend if you are going to play end game or not. If not its not that important to take.

    5. Sunder doesn't work with ranged. However with stunning fist the imp. sunder is an awesome debuff to apply first. Must have IMO. (Well, both stunning fist and imp. sunder.)

    6. I would focus on stunning fist and imp. sunder rather than WF:B. More toughness if you really can't find anymore benefits from other feats.

    So about the build. I think you misunderstood the purpose of the wizard level in your first mentioned build. It is to give you a spellpoint class for the arcane archer PrE. As ranger you get spellpoints, so this wizard level is not necessary. Personally I don't think the 12th ranger level is needed either, as your PrE is drawn from race, not class in this case. That leaves you two class slots, which can be used on fighter for example, for one more str enhancement, one more toughness enhancement AND haste boost. Or you could go with rogue, for haste boost, traps skills and full UMD ranks. Its whatever you prefer of course and other classes like artificer can also give you some benefits. But the wizard level only gives you another caster feat and if your feat situation is as you wrote it is, the wizard level is a no gain level.

    As for your starting stats I would go with more strength, one less con, 2 less wisdom (cause strength will really matter in melee, and also adds dps to your bow.) Depending on your class and thus available skill choices you should also consider 2 more points in int.
    A good leveling progress would be:
    1: ranger (skill points)
    2: monk (unarmed combat, ac bonus from wis)
    3-7: ranger (fast access to bow feats and imp twf)
    8-12: monk (fastest way to access manyshot and 10k stars at the same time for more bow use)
    13-17: ranger (the remaining ranger levels)
    18: monk (for the last monk imp. rec.)

    The additional class choice you make can be put in somewhere. Rogue would be good as the first level and somewhere in the middle, whereas fighter would be better at lvl 8 and at level 19 for better skill point distribution and the fact the the fighter bonus feats can be spread out nice. (Of course if you pick another class than fighter or rogue think where it benefits you the most and squeeze it in.

    So is this build better than the kensaiII?
    Survivability and self-sufficiency: Yes.
    Absolute, max boss dps in bursts: No.
    You pick.

    Edit: I see the wizard level is to avoid the need of mental toughness. Again with your described feat situation it is no problem. And consider quick draw for quick swaps between bow and handwraps.

    I think I will change it to 11/8/1.
    Yes that's why I took the single wiz level. I like lots of feats lol. And I will adjust my points and feats a bit according to your recommendations.
