    Default TR Advice needed

    Hello everyone.

I'm considering TRing into a monk and power leveling through a stone just in time for Menace of the underdark.

I would love to have a DPS monk that can solo.

I currently am a second life kensai Fighter, with a past life in ranger geared in DPS with TWF.

I have some questions though about monk builds.

I've been eyeing a build called the Rockan Roban ( http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=210181 ) I currently do a lot of hard/elite shrouds, ToD's and epic VoN/Chrono on my second life fighter and wonder how good the DPS of this build is compared to a kensai TWF fighter.

Also, I'm wondering if this build is still viable for epic level quests. (didn't they nerf dark monk a while back in epics?)

    Thanks

For dps you want a dark monk. With blur items or even displacement clickies available from shroud, and the dark monks shadow fade monsters have to make 2 rolls to nail you.

On top of that you have tod which even while saved still does great dmg and you can spam and spam and spam it.

You'll also want balance. What I mean by that is min maxing usually ends up screwing you later on. Theirs no way to get around it you need at least an 18 BASE for the grandmaster stances. The 3 main stances being fire for ki and extra str. Wind for extra doublestrike chance (And a slight increase to speed while using haste) and of course earth for stacking dr and a bunch of con and extra hate.

Then you move on to gear. Without gear the monks subpar. Namely one of the best things you'll need are +10 stunning wraps. +3 or higher enhancement would be best so to hit doesn't fall. Your aiming for about a 45 dc of stunning fist or higher. Without the stun your as awesome as the nub barb holding down the left mouse button. You'll do dmg, but you'll also get ur * kicked in the process. So noteworthy items are things like jidz teka that enhance your stances, the spare hand from challanges, and tod sets. Other things but to many to list.

Then you'll need silver threaded wraps to brake dr on bosses. Or just bring an arti along. The devotions are ok from delera's until you can find some silvers on the ah..(well lets say more like come up with the 1.5 mill to buy them from the ah)

Then comes the real meat. And the biggest flippn pain. Tod rings. Once you grind those out you can slot one of em with holy. Slot another with another element. Slot more with say exceptional con. That way ya have stuff for every occasion.

Ah and of course solo ability. Hands down the best race for that is a helf. You already have the wis stat, cleric dili with a monks heal amp is just great. Mix that in with stuns and fading, and tod and your just grand.

If you don't have half elf race then I'd prolly go human, then dwarf.
