I can't seem to make up my mind now. Argh. Right when I felt like I knew what I wanted. But hearing about WF having a lack of CC is a bit off putting. I love the idea of them being more self sufficient. However, I love being able to CC even more. To me it just feels like what is expected out of any caster. Not to mention, it is its own form of self sufficiency.

As much as I want to go WF and my Drow is a very low level (Due to starting him over at least 15 times) I think I will not reset him. He does have a few free bound to character items I don't want to lose and maybe just switching my savant will do the trick for now. I am starting to like the sound of water more and more. I'm sure I could run with this until I get strong to finally let air work. Will TR a few times as sorcerer for more DC as well. Why not?

If I come across a +4 tome during all of this then I may switch over to human. I just really want to make Drow work.

One last question though, is it bad to not use fire up to level 15? I have nothing against fire but knowing I won't carry it all the way to end game makes it seem pointless to me. In fact, I will have to spend a lot of time and money switching out all of my spells just to go back to another Savant. Money isn't so much the issue, just the time part and waiting to switch out spells. Is there any way for water to work up to that point or is it too difficult?

Will it really ruin me at end game to do this? Can I still make a decent Earth Savant build with a Drow?
Why is it not a good idea to mix them...? Its not like a dont cross the streams thing. I play an air savant and I find this combo to be one of if not THE top dps choice. Air savant also gives you great mobility and survivability.

If you mix Air and Water then there will be certain enemies you can't do much damage to at all. If you were to mix maybe Water and Earth then at least the Earth will get you by during those situations. I'm confused because I am not sure just HOW big of an issue Air and water would be. Would there be an entire dungeon that I can't run right because of it? Or just certain situations within a dungeon. If that is the case then I wouldn't see Air and Water being an issue.

Do you have a specific example of this kind of mob? My air savant has a spellbook and enhancements in electric, cold, fire, force, and repair so i think that covers like every mob in the game. Your tertiary spec in the mix should be designed to fill the holes. I cant think of a mob that requires acid and is immune to fire and untyped/force

I think the only type were Liches. That is about it. But as you said, I could probably just use force to fix that issue.

You don't have to limit yourself to 2 elements. I have a water savant but he has 7,3,3 points in acid and electricty. This seems to cover the vast majority of targets although i also have a few points in force for meteor swarm for those few cases where i need fire or force damage. From my experience, water savant offers the highest dps and this set up will make you effective against just about anything.

The point of going fire is to help you level faster/ more easily. Don't spend money and, more importantly, time switching out all your spells either. I would go fire or acid while you level and then farm gianthold tor or mired in kabolds for a blood of dragons. This will allow you to swap any of your spells for free for an hour. By this point you'll be coming up to content where fire wont be effective and you should consider swapping savant. The blood of dragons is BTA so you can get it on a higher level toon if you have one and just give it to your alt.

I wouldn't decide the savant you're going to play at cap yet either. Cap your sorcerer, farm some blood of dragons and try them all would be my advice. They all have something you'll miss when you try a different savant out so just see what you feel happiest with.
