Default To Hit Issues? Or some burst DPS - through wands or other means?

Im a 10th level paladin - Im geared pretty well I think http://my.ddo.com/character/orien/macrighteous/ I dont think I'm too gimped even though I didnt really know what I was doing when I rolled this toon I believe its still a viable first life solo toon - I have a slew of targeted weapons including The Bloody Cleaver. But there are some mobs that I really have trouble putting down fast...

Or I stand toe to toe with certain foes - mostly named and we swing-swing-swing and miss - miss - miss - one out of 10 swings hit maybe - some bosses its a duel to the finish and who ever out lasts the other is the victor - if there is a monster healer - its very frustrating to get him down to a few points only to have them self heal over and over - i run out of my self heals and potions and wands - but the mob never does and its just a matter of power attacking and doing more dps faster then they can heal - some times its works - some times it doesnt

I use Barkskin, Haste, Heroism potions - plus I self buff with Bullstrength and (some pally spell that gives me hit points if I get hit?) I use paladin attack boost and keep divine might and divine sacrifices up plus I have +2 to hit on my goggles - whaats the deali-o?

Should I be looking for wands or other items that can give me some DPS burst?

or am i doing it wrong?

try not using power attack, and sometimes spamming mites helps you a lot.
There is a such item called blood rage outfit, see if your able to get that item. It does help hitting purpose.
wands can be useful, yet most don't do enough damage to take out a foe. Anyways, Try taking of power attack for those times when you miss 3/4 of the time. Tis, all advice i can say.
    P.S
your character is not weak, nor equipped wrong, and remember if your missing im sure there can be another party member missing as well.

Turning off power attack helps - Ill look in to a blood rage item, I think I can craft something.

if you have the guild lvls then ship buffs (+2 from training dummy, +1 from str shrine) can also help.
rage +2 str also gives +1 hit.

as scottmike said, spamming smites is a good idea on those self healing mobs, since u get your CHA mod to hit on those.

trip and sunder can help lower enemy AC (if you're lucky enough to hit on those initially)

If you're missing more than 5-10% of your swings turn power attack off. Paladin are worse dps than fighters and barbs and their "to hit" is usually worse which makes it difficult. This is generally only an issue for elite so if you do a lower difficulty you'll see less issues

I'm level 10 and I'm farming the Lordsmarch Plaza quests for the Sora Kell set and the marks to upgrade them - all level 12 and 13 quests - when I run them on normal I do alright - its just when I run them on hard or elite that I start to really notice to hit problems and have a hard time with healing mobs - turning off PA seemed to help a bit,

Sadly I don't have the guild levels for a ship yet but I'm working on it - in fact I'm just about to hit level 10 guild level so I will be redoing my crafted gear to include tiny guild slot items - hopefully I will get some more utility out of them that will help as well.

I think my main problem is that I'm under level for this chain and perhaps I shouldn't run them on hard or elite - but the drop rates for these items suck yo!

On the bright side I pulled the ring and 2 marks last night plus I already pulled a mark and the Bloody Cleaver prior - so I guess I'm half way there eh?

Thanks for the tips and suggestions

Your doing lordsmarch quests at level 10... and you say you have no problem hitting them on normal. The difference from Hard and elite is a bit ridiculous.

The lordsmarch gear, you can always wait. They have a better drop on elite. but that is if you can do it. You might even need the exp at that level, best not waste it at that lower level. Theres plenty more quests to be doing for gear.

I would not suggest doing those quest yet... you can always hit Xorian Cipher, try for the planar gird, and get a GH clickie to help you hit on later content. I highly suggest running 8 on elites, 9s on hards, 10 on normals, so things are not that out of hand.
