    Default question about rogue splash

I'm doing a Ranger with Rogue splash took rogue first level was planning on doing ranger the rest of the way maybe fighter for last level for extra feat but was curious with one thing I've seen a few Ranger/rogue splashes around and they seem to take 2 levels of rogue I was just wondering what's the point? other classes I can understand to get the evasion but Rangers get Evasion anyway so I don't really understand why using up a level for the extra rogue can anyone explain the reasoning? Cause it really seems like a waste of a level to me.

I share your views. The second rogue level adds some additional SA to-hit, but that's about it. Monk, Fighter, Ranger (and even Wizard for splashed AA variants, and self-healing Tempests) make a lot more sense.

Skill point consolidation could be another motive, but that usually isn't strong enough.

1 monk or 1 fighter is usually a stronger choice than 2 rogue. Lots of other options too.

2nd rogue doesn't give much to a class that gets a lot of skill points and has evasion already.

    This exactly.

Common Rogue splashes are either /1 for trap-skills access, or /3, /5, or /7 if you want deeper more sneak-attack splashes.

That used to be the case, but now rogue 2 lets you add Wand & Scroll Mastery I. An (almost) free +30% to all Cure wands & Heal scrolls ain't nuthin' to be sneezed at.
