    Default Builds Like A Viking?

Hey, today I was thinking while looking for epic groups, I really need another toon to play in the mean time. So my wacky mind came up with the idea of making a viking toon. I am not proficient at making my own builds so I was wondering if anyone could help me come across a build that would fit the viking stereotype.
Preferably human, 28 pt, could be any class other than artificer, and weapon type is not a problem. Much thanks for the help.
    Sincerely,

Vikings tended to either use a spear, hand-axe or sword with a shield, or HUGE two-handed Daneaxes. They also used mail or leather body armour. Given this background and their 'Norse Berserker' mentality, I would suggest going for a Human Barbarian.

    Level 20 Human Barbarian

    Max STR then CON.

For skills max Balance, Jump (up to 10), and Spot in order of priority.
One rank (two points) in Tumble at character creation is useful.

    Feats:

1 - Stunning Blow, Two Handed Fighting
    3 - Power Attack
    6 - Cleave
9 - Improved Two Handed Fighting
    12 - Improved Critical (Slashing)
15 - Greater Two Handed Fighting
    18 - Toughness

Be sure to pick a nice looking helmet and armour and a HUGE Great-Axe and you are ready to go .....

Some great info about the Barbarian class can be found here:

Always thought that barbarians where based in that guy from Stamford bridge 1066.

    Berserker is a "viking" word...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berserker

"Berserkers (or berserks) were Norse warriors who are reported in the Old Norse literature to have fought in a nearly uncontrollable, trance-like fury, a characteristic which later gave rise to the English word berserk. Berserkers are attested in numerous Old Norse sources. Most historians believe that berserkers worked themselves into a rage before battle, but some think that they might have consumed drugged foods."

The guy from Stanford bridge used a greataxe...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Stamford_Bridge

"The English advance was then delayed by the need to pass through the choke-point presented by the bridge. A later folk story has it that a giant Norse axeman (possibly armed with a Dane Axe) blocked the narrow crossing, and single-handedly held up the entire Saxon army. The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle states that this axeman cut down up to 40 Englishmen. He was only defeated when an English soldier floated under the bridge in a half-barrel and thrust his spear through the laths in the bridge.[6]"

So you need at least 18 barbarian and greataxe in your build.

    "Giant Norse axeman" = Horc?
Humans in DDO are not "giants"....

    "Giant Norse axeman" = Dwarfs?
Dwarfs are not Giants... but they are the ones that get bonus using axes.

My dwarf barbarian supreme cleaving 10 mobs to oblivion filled with rage, frenzy and death frenzy do feel like I am the guy from the stamford bridge.

    Cogito ergo doleo

When I Think Of A Viking I Think Norse, Norsemen were usually tall blonde haired people I feel like a dwarf would be to stout.

When I think of Vikings,Norse comes to mind. Norsemen were usually these tall people with blonde hair, so human sounds like the profile that comes to mind, not some stout dwarf.

Do you think that intimidate would make it that much better? If I add in intimidate, he could scare the ****ers out of kobolds... Sounds pretty vikingly to me

Yes, Intimidate is actually a very nice choice for a Barbarian, although Balance, Jump and Spot are more important.

Now if on a 28 point build you max STR (18) then CON (16), you will have 2 points left over which you can put into Intelligence to give you an extra skill point per level.

Also there is an enhancement that gives enemies a -2 to saves if you successfully intimidate them, which is great for Stunning Blow.

Unfortunately Barbarians in DDO are pretty much based on Fantasy stereotypes rather than Norse warriors of history.

Yes of course The Vikings were fully capable of wielding G-Axes and Berserkers have already been mentioned in this thread.

BUT They were also well trained FIGHTERS.

I'd suggest Fighter 14 / Barbarian 6 or some similar build myself.

Make sure to take Dwarven Axe as your main weapon even as a Human {As Battle Axes don't get the 2 Handed Glancing Blows}.

You're Sword and Board of course with Great Axe for when you're not needed as tank and Throwing Axe or Longbow for ranged.

Now if you truly want to go with the flavour build then Brutal Throw is an absolute must have feat for you - You can fill out the rest of your feats with ease I suspect.
