Question Half-Elf Dilettante Rogue / rogue sneak attack

I know those 2 dont stack, but....which is stronger?

    for example:

    a half elf / rogue 1 / barbarian 14

Will this toon have only 1d6 sneak attack because of the 1 lvl rogue...or will it have 3d6 because of rouge dilly?

It would only have the 1d6 because they don't stack.

Rogues get 1d6 Sneak Attack every odd level, so 1d6 at 1, 2d6 at 3 and 3d6 at 5. Currently, you can also get a static bonus through Rogue enhancements as well, but who knows what will happen with the enhancement update.

So for your example, the 1 Rogue level would give you 1d6+3 (Average 6.5) with one 1 AP enhancement and no Rogue Dilettante.

Or it would give you 3d6 (Average 10.5) if you took the Dilettante and all 6 AP worth of improvements.

I'm not sure the 4 points of damage are worth the 5 APs. I would be tempeted to go for another Dilettante. Though the stats may be rough, the Monk healing amp or Paladin save bonuses and wands would be much better. If nothing else, the Ranger Dilly gives you a better ranged option and gives you cure wands.

IIRC, rogue SA and HE rogue dilly do not stack, but SA Training and HE rogue dilly do stack. So in your example of a HE with a rogue 1 splash and rogue dilly, you'd have 3D6+3 SA at lvl 15 (avg 13.5), roughly double the avg SA of just the rogue 1 splash.

Whether that's worth the 7 AP cost largely depends on what dilly you would've taken instead...
