Do note that as a general rule of thumb a lot of that ducking dodging and weaving you see is to get enough of a group together that you can keep the SP expenditure down.

Thanks for the input guys! I've got the Master's Touch, a greataxe, and the acid minipulation. I still missing with the axe more than I'm hitting, however, I'm not running out of SP as fast now.

Level one acid spray (with the minipulation) is clearing the way very nicely. I'm still kinda apprehensive about doing higher level quests. Will just have to try to improve my spell slinging.

    Thanks again!

Be sure to stand still while swinging- you can't afford the -4 movement penalty to your to-hit.

Also grab the Goggles of Insight from the Necromancer's Doom quest or craft a +1 battle skill item to boost your to-hit.

Heroism pots or spell will also boost your to-hit so you don't miss as often.

It gets better at level 6 when you take a prestige and get a basically mana free spell like attack to help while swishing with your great axe. The first one is usually a touch range effect. Meanwhile get the highest +Tobit weapon you can, +5 tohit for you is generally better for your purposes that weapon affects except righteousness which also adds to your attack modifier. (may not show up in stats but it's there if you look at your dice roll)

So the Righteousness Suffix is working now?

Ice is great for 2 reasons, polar ray and niac's biting cold. (I suppose cone of cold deserves an honorable mention as well)

Elec needs some love, but people spec into it because of eledar's electric surge, stacked with niac's biting cold. Makes for a very sp efficient dps against red names.
Some other things to note is that:

Acid spells are fairly limited compared to other elements consisting of only 2 DoTs (BDB is pretty awesome though) and an AOE thats not as good as FW or IS mostly because of its short duration or a second AOE that takes forever to cast...it also has Acid Blast which is a clone of fireball...no clone of DBF though mostly its a good secondary since so few are immune to it.

With Fire at cap its pretty much useless in most endgame content although with the Xpack coming up that might change the best use for this element is leveling because despite being nerfed FW is still a great spell and so is DBF.

Now Ice is my personal favorite for Gish-type builds for one reason and one reason only most Ice spells have NO SAVE and NO SR. Never used it on my actual caster (PM Wizard18/Rogue2) though he's Lightning/Acid Spec.

Lightning is another element blessed with little resistance and with a little luck even most of the single target spells have the ability to hit multiple enemies but it does lack a true aoe which is why it's best duoed with either Ice or Acid...for Savants its pretty much Ice since Air/Acid conflict with each other....which is no biggie because that gets them 2 nice DoTs. This is my personal favorite for normal casters but mostly because of its visual aesthetic.
