Default Games of Thrones = CNN

Never read the books and don't want spoilers but will you hurry up and kill some bad guys already?

All the protagonists getting mopped up with ever growing treachery going unpunished. If I want to be this ****ed off and depressed watching TV, I'll just turn on the nightly news and watch the latest corporate entity raping the planet or some community for profits.

    TIA

I did not realize there were good guys in Game of Thrones. As to the really bad guys- can't kill them until they have earned a truly gruesome and ignoble death.

A dunking booth filled with acid with King Joffrey sitting in the hot seat would generate a TON of cash!

It's a drama with boobies and swords. If you are waiting for resolution & action...well, get ready to wait a long, long time.

    Currently into book 3.

Not a fan of the show really.

I consider the Lannisters as bad guys but I don't believe there is a really clear picture of good or bad. Mostly personal taste I suppose.

I don't know, I think Tyrion Lannister is one of the best people in the book. He is certainly one of the most aware of the welfare of others and life beyond his current situation/ambitions and trying to do his best to protect people at least into book 2.

No one who really deserves it will get theirs until next season if they follow the books. Of course they are going way off track from the books this season as compared to the first season, so who knows, you might get some satisfaction.

Agree, most characters are complicated and hard to judge.

But some of it isn't complicated....burning a kid and stringing him up = bad. Sex with sister = bad + kid = ******. Pushing a kid out of a window and paralyzing him = bad. Wasting perfectly good prostitutes by torturing them instead = bad.

I have read the books, I can tell you, without spoilers:

There will be lots and lots of suffering and you will have mixed emotions and mixed emotions about the mixed emotions. And reading the books is better, even if the show is great.

All true, but when they get their comeuppance it comes hard and swift. Just hang on.

    Default game of thrones

Absolutely the BEST series on TV right now!!! I haven't read the books because I don't want to get ahead. The anticipation of what is going to happen next keeps me on my seats edge. Everytime I get close to someone... "poof".

    Great series..

Books are good, movies are good too (But in a different way).

Yeah, boy, there's comeuppance all right. A whole lot of that. And not necessarily in ways that you would expect. Or for the people you think should get it.

These plots are more twisted than a snake that desperately needs a chiropractor.
(Agreed on no good/bad guys. People change, grow, get better, get worse, die, It's like real life. No black and white, but endless shades of grey.)

    Enjoy the stories!!

    I know what happens!

    I know what happens!

Except since this TV show on HBO is an 'adaptation' I suppose I really don't. I do as far as the books go, though.

Anyway, George likes to work in shades of gray. There are no good guys in white and villains in black for him i.e. the Kingsguard is in white and the Nightswatch is in black, so he enjoys taking readers expectations and standing them on their head.

Does that help? Nah. Not really.

But hold on for some good 'ole cliff hangers and gruesome deaths all across the board....

Regarding the 'adaptation' business, I was a little disappointed that not only was Dagmer not Cleftjaw, they actually wrote him up with some of Reek's contribution to the storyline.

I'll cite a couple of disagreements with you on the "there are no good guys"--Jon and Dany. And I have yet to see one redeeming feature in the Mountain or Rorge (though those 2 are relatively minor characters). They border on being fantasy tropes. But it's still a heck of a good read and I'm also enjoying the show. Kudos to the people who cast the role of Brienne in particular, she looks almost spot on to my mind's eye.

I dont know whats said in the books, but I didnt picture her hair a bleach blonde colour. She's good otherwise.

For those watching show and maybe holding off on books... I watched the first season before starting the books (halfway through 5 now), and the first book was still very interesting knowing generally what happens.

But thats just it, its like the show glazes over the story and picks up the main points.. there is so much filling in to do that the books are almost like the viewers guide to the bigger picture.

Oh, and ya, Jon is rockin'.
