Yeah so why not just say mile, why say country mile. It's less confusing and you're typing an extra word.

Because the colloquialism is "country mile", not just "mile" and not everyone is a lazy typist looking to save 7 keystrokes at the expense of the flavor intended.

You could have just as easily typed "just say mile." but you chose to add extra words too. Why didn't you opt for "less confusing" and "less words" yourself?... Because it would have short changed your intended message, correct?
