    Default Visual Cues

When any mob has a buff on it, you really don't know that it does, or what it has, unless you are paying very close attention to it, or if you hit "examine", that little magnifying glass icon.

But who has that kind of time in the midst of combat?

My suggestion is that when a mob casts a buff on himself or another mob, there should be, say, some kind of mini-icon or glow, depending on the type of buff.

Is the ogre raged? Give it a reddish aura or glowing eyes.

Does the drow priest have deathward? Give it a broken skull icon.

Does the red-named fire elemental have 'Protection from Energy: Cold' on it? Give it a blueish shield icon.

These icons don't even have to be three-dimensional, as long as the player can see them. Also add in a check box in the options menu to switch this on and off. It would also help if some changes were made to make debuffing a more practical strategy, like changing how dispel works and giving cooldown times to caster mobs.

    Press Z

I would like debuffing and dispelling to be a bigger deal too.

I actually wouldnt mind an examine window that pop-ed out and updated depending on what target you had selected, instead of having to open an examine window for each target individually.

I would hate the "pop-up", but if I hit "Z" and switch targets, I would be absolutely delighted if the "Z" window would just update to the new target (or blank if none<---important PITA for cleric's bursting and stacking DP) rather than just close.

Here's a thought I've had forever, but never really asked.

Why don't we see the mob's buff icons inside that targeting reticle? Seems like the normal (and frequently off-center) photo is cool when you're tabbing around the room to get the right target; but if focus stays on a mob more than, say 3 secs - why not display its effects icons there?

That "Z" examine window is just more wasted real estate.

A lore panel. Something that contains a record of all of the monsters you have fought and the same examine as the target window. A lot of games have a lore *book* with the stats on every creature you encounter. Even Metroid has it.

To be honest, this isn't an original idea. I found "visual cues" likes the ones I suggested in some of the numerous RPG games I've played. Ironically, most of those were turn-based.

Without this, I wouldn't sign it.

I'm still undecided over it ... I have read a lot of hate about floating question marks and floating exclamation marks floating over the heads of NPCs ... Hated mostly my old school role-playing games plyers ...
"You are a Tiefling. And a Cleric, with the Domain of the Sun. Doesn't that contradict each other ?" "No, all my friends are playing evil. I found that so boring that I decided to be on the good side. And, besides, Sun and Fire, where is the difference, really ?"

    Lore book would be awesome!
