^^ This. This, one thousand times over. I almost enjoy it now when I do get random blind invites.

Most recently, I got blind invited in the harbor while swapping around with mules. I was amused because somehow, with NO guild chat or voice whatsoever, I was promoted to lead the party.

I gave my tongue-lashing about the rudeness of blind invites, gave information about the social panel, and moved on. Lessons learned? Perhaps. We'll see!

    Upon further reading...

Blind tells? Really? How is it that you would prefer to be prepared for a "blind tell?"

(General): [Metalbone] 'Hey, Healertypebro! Stalked you to the Marketplace so I could give you some warning that I'm going to be sending you a tell in a moment. Don't panic! At least it's not a blind tell. You have been warned. I hope you're reading this... :)'
(Tell): Metalbone tells you, 'Healertypebro, are you available to heal Shroud for us?'
(Tell): Metalbone tells you, 'Blind tell? I absolutely DID NOT send you a blind tell! Check General! You were sufficiently warned before my incoming tell! :('

I don't ever mind answering tells on my healer. I always answer, and I am always polite and wish the recruiting parties luck with their quest or raid.

Perhaps I'm lucky, but while on my cleric I get a few tells, but almost all of them are nice. Usually something along the lines of "Good morning. Are you interested in an elite Sins?" to which I'll reply. As well as often it is people I know, so I don't mind giving a hand, and will even switch over to my cleric to help people out. I do get the occasional blunt ones, but never had anyone be surprised if I don't answer.

I also PUG *alot* so maybe I don't mind invites as much as those in more static groups. It's nice to be wanted.

I believe that there could be a lot more done with the social panel.

Personally, I feel that it would be handy if you could, as opposed to "friend" someone, give their entire account a nickname, so you know who they are, or more to the point, who you know them as, when you see them in your group or type in chat.

But that should require that they accept such info to be conveyed to the requester, and know what nick name you game them

Also, I guess like many others, I made a healer, well a clonk, for the same motive most have done so, for those times when you are in a raid, and they need a healer, and no one is joining. Having a capped cleric or healer for those situations is just handy to say the least. But I don't view my clonk as my main, it was more one of those character I felt I just needed to have in my portfolio of capped toons, so much so to this fact, that when a Torc dropped for my healer, I put it up for roll.

Is it really that difficult to just Decline the blind invite and move on?

Plus I know people (like me) that won't accept anonymous on groups.

    My 2 cents.

The types that are clueless about blind invites being rude are ALSO the types that seem to be clueless that repetitive blind invites after one or more declines is considered harassment. "Join my party! No? How about now? No? How about now?..."

How many times are you willing to click Decline? I'd rather accept, put the party leader out a little bit by being in the wrong place at the right time, and then impart a lesson about blind invites.

So you are saying its your preference to react to improper attitude with another?

If you are getting too many blind invites and feel harassed you can use the report feature, or simply squelch.

IMO going anonymous shopuld be a short-term thing because it will do you more harm than not. What if everyone decide to go anonymous?

I ignore most random tells i get from random ppl and i squelch those who send me blind invites .

Am i considered a elitist jerk for that ? Maybe i am but maybe i dont care .

Add to the usual come heal my shroud or w/e raid or quest the following :

Can i jon ur guild plz ?!!?!

Can i see ur ship plz??

Can u tell me what spells to use at who knows what lvl?

Can u tell me what feats to take ?

Can u give me 5k plat plz?

    Etc.

I go anon most of the time just because of that..
When i log in i want to play my toons not to answer questions or go heal some random group who didnt even bothered to look if im in a quest or not.

Unhappy Of course we still get bothered.

Rude people are still rude people. And two wrongs do not make a right. You have to wonder how much they think you want to heal them if they are bugging the whey out of you. Courtesy goes a long way in this game. And maturity is a must. I do occasionally accept invites given as polite tells to come heal someone's raid. But, they must be courteous! I also take into account school vacations and such when I go anon and when I don't. With school letting out now, I will be anon each day after the first blind invite.

You guys are doing it all wrong...people read bios so why not use it for more than typical data storage?

For instance I politely tell people that if I'm in the party we'll wipe through a series of unfortunate events.

    In case of my cleric...Xevic:

"Called often 'Xevic the unlucky' for his accident prone nature be it being disemboweled by some beast or just rotten luck of karma's whipping boy. He hails from some land he had single handedly caused the end of by an odd series of events starting with throwing a pebble in a pond. The ripples disturbed the sleeping terrasque under the surface, from there it all went down hill.

Now running for his life from the terrasque he came to stormreach unaware of how he will some day doom this place as well.

All the doom and gloom aside despite the immortal bad luck Xevic often wears a smile on his face using his powers to keep himself healed up. Chances are he won't heal another if he absolutely doesn't have to."

    and viola, no random and blind tells or invites, ever. Word spreads pretty well when you're the worst healer on the server ^_^;
Veriden, Orien server: Lost count of lives. 3 of all base classes, 3 halfling, 2 gnome...working on trying to make the game work again. May or may not return.

lol I did find this funny and the way you put it makes it seem like I am completely over reacting but if you read whole thread you see prime examples of what I call blind tells.

A tell froma guildy or someone on my friends list are more than welcomed tells. A blind tell in my opinion is somone (I HAVE NEVER GROUPED WITH BEFORE) asking to join guild , asking for ship invites, asking for plat, asking me to go run somethign when they clearly already have a lfm ect ect..

I am to the point where if I want to pug I will throw up a post or I will join a post I do not /who and start sending blind tells. the guild invite are not horrible tells if they are serious people who want to raid and do epics but it most often level 1-9 first lifers who probably are only on this server to farm favor and will just grief guild.

I hope I have cleared this up for you. To anyone who I have told to add me to friends please keep the tells coming to everyone else please no tells .

I know I am not an easy person, but when you follow my instructions, the quests will usually go very fast and painless.

So this is what happened today, I ended up getting a pug wizard into the group, and we ran already some quests together. He seemed to understand what to do, seemed like a rather acceptable player, and he was a second life, so he already had some experience I would think. We level at our usual speed, so fast and very efficient (averaging at that moment about 4-5k xp/min) and obviously nothing of problems seem to occure at that moment.
Now, the moment we finish the farm, we decided to move on to Running with the Devils, which obviously due to bravery streak would be run on elite and farmed on hard at level 18.

I already noticed that that wizard was a pale master, so before stepping into the quest, while grabbing ship buffs, I addressed him with the following concern. There is a load of light dmg going on in Devils and obviously undead form aint a smart move in Devils. So basically I forbid him to go in undead form with only 270HP or so, and I told him to make sure he had potions with him to heal himself. He agreed and understood the reason why that was. No problem I think, and we start with the quest.

I run the quest like I usually always do when I am on a caster, which is pretty much take the agro of everything on myself and just selfheal, so that the rest of the grp doesnt really have to eat too much dmg themself.
Everything goes smooth untill we come at the first shrine. I am out of SP, ending up resting. Mister Wizard was not even 25% down his SP bar and ended up moving on with some of the melee. The moment I am shrining, I see him passing by in undead form. It was a glimps I only saw so I wasnt sure about it. I end up asking to the wizard himself if he is, and also to the rest of the grp. He plain ignores my question, 2 other people (the melee who are with him) comfirm he is. Not even 5seconds later, obviously not being able to handle the agro not the high purple dmg output from the mobs, he ends up dying.

You can kind of guess what my reaction was at that moment. I am very sorry for those who dont know me, but those who do kind of understand why I am not posting my reaction in the forums. I obviously forbid my party to raise him or run him to a shrine, and ended up kicking him out of the group immidiately once he was out of the quest.

I jsut dont understand it at all, and this is kind of why I am making this thread, maybe anyone here can help me understand. So we run a previous quest, where we get so much xp/min, into which I lead it myself aswell, with very clear instructions. That kind of indicates that I know what I am talking about. I say before stepping into the quest why he isnt allowed to do something, yet still he goes against my very clear instructions onto which he agreed on to begin with, to still do what he feels like. I jsut dont get it. Is 40+TRs and a completionist toon not enough to kind of know how to level up and what can and cannot be done in certain quests. Does a first TR know that much more then me? And does that first life feel he can net more then 4-5k xp/min by taking the risc of getting kicked out of the group. I am pretty sure that there a lot of players who get declined for my leveling party are right now crying coz idiots like that get a chance and they dont.

You would go anon and use the squelch function for less, you know. I ended up putting Mitwo on anon while leveling just coz I ended up getting at certain moments so much idiotic pugs that I ended up keeping getting tells from them and literly spammed onto why their friend for kicked out of the grp. Just the hate tells alone make me wanne puke half the times... This is really my biggest issue of all, okey, I am not an easy guy to level with, but fact is, if you follow onto what I ask, you wouldnt get kicked, and you wouldnt have to send your friends after me. I am really thinking of going with swiing, who I am currently elveling with, anon again like I did with mitwo.

I am staying anonymous however when you post in lfm people will see you online. I go anonymous when I am not looking for pugs. I am not about being antisocial or being above anyone this is NOT what this thread is about.

Its about not just me but everyone who is middle of raid healing ect... and getting burdened by junk tells from people you do not know also if you are on a alt and I know your main might want to start with ( this is (enter mains name ) btw i was just (continue on with whatever you need to say)

Also its not the tells that I mind its when i ignore tells because I am busy and people get hostile is when i start gettign upset if you send me tell and I don't respond its because Im most likely busy not that i do not want to respond and usually if you give me like 5min or so i can get back to you just because I do not respond right away doesnt mean I am upset with you or think i am too good for you just means I have other things going on.

Despite popular belief I am not a robot and I can only do 1 thing at a time. I do want to continue to pug form time to time and grow meet new players ect..

Junk tells = hey do you guys have all 3 alters i need to craft greensteel
