    Default screen bleached after crash

Sometimes I peek into DDO from my laptop. The laptop is struggling to display the game even at lowest settings. Sometimes the game crashes, but that's OK.

I have modified brightness/contrast/gamma to see the game better. When I run the game in windowed mode, everything is brighter, even Windows desktop. Normally, when I close the game, my Windows desktop returns to normal colors. However, sometimes, when DDO crashes, my screen remains bleached. Restarting the computer fixes the problem. Is there a way to fix this without restarting the computer?

This has happened to me many, many times on my desktop. Same result. The only way to fix it seems to be to restart. It's quite annoying.

Try this - dunno if it still works... old Directx games used to do this to me when it first came out.

Try selecting exlorer in taskmanager (assuming you can see it) and kill explorer.

Still ugly, but better than waiting 4 minutes for shutdown and restart.

Thanks, I'll give it a try sometime. For now, I've just avoided the issue by resetting the gamma options in game to defaults. Bright enough for a quick check of the Auction House.

When I used to see this issue on an older laptop, I would put DDO into Windows mode, minimize DDO, open another app - can be anything like internet explorer for instance, then maximize DDO again. This would work around the issue until it occurred again and I had to follow the same strategy to straighten it out.
