Default What games would you recommend?

Tired of logging on and having no one to play with, no guild, bla bla bla, etc. Need a serious break, or probably just quit.

Trying to figure out what else I could play during free time. Finished playing through Arcana again yesterday, played Mass Effect 3 before that, Baldur's Gate II also. What games would you all recommend that I play next? Doesn't have to be recent, and no MMOs.

    TL;DR : Game suggestions?

Try TERA, its like mix between DDO and Wow.

DDOish style combat with wow like progression.

edit: I did not read the no mmos part til after writing this post but i still stick with my suggestion

The only Computer Game of any kind I'd ever recommend currently is DDO.

Why not try Pen N Paper Role Playing though - I'm sure there's a club near you wherever you are.

Or you could try Badminton, Tennis, Football {Not the American kind} or any of a number of other games that got you away from the computer.

Of course if you're not the sporty type {I'm certainly not} then there's always Chess, Snooker, Pool or Darts to take your mind away from DDO.

BTW This is NOT a "get a life" post - I am making serious suggestions.

I don't if it's your cup of tea but I recently took a break and played Civ II & Civ III. A week went by before I knew it.

When I get burnt-out, I for one have to play the other side.. so my #1 would be Overlord.

Avernum is also a good Old-timey feel if you want an RPG, admittedly, teh inventory leaves something to be desired, and its turn based. That said, the demo's of games by spiderweb software, run to the tune of, the first quarter of the game.... is the demo.

Technically an MMO, but you don't have to deal with anyone else if you don't choose to.

    +1

Especially for the PnP DnD suggestion.

BTW American football is really fun...and you can play 2 hand touch (to avoid serious injury).

Soccer or Real Football (whatever you want to call it) is probably the toughest game to play...have to be in great shape.

EDIT: Posting from work so got interrupted...about Soccer, what I meant is...it is an amazing workout and can help get people into shape pretty quick.

They've been around for a while, so you can get them cheap ATM:

    - For a short, fun game: Portal, 1 & 2. Great replayability, excellent for those days when you only have 15-30 minutes for a quick game. If you're really into puzzles, I would also recommend Braid.

    - For a long, DDO-esque game: The Witcher, 1 & 2. An excellent history (would recommend to read Sapkowski's novels first, though), excellent gameplay, excellent everything. These Poles know how to do things well. Pure awesomeness.

Portal 2 sounds like a good idea, I used to do speedruns in Portal 1. I have yet to see what the second game looks like.

Also, started playing through this game again. At the rate I go through normal games though, I'll need something else soon.

Break out the emulator and play Final Fantasy II! I loved that game and even in 2012 it keeps me captivated. Play a solo run of BG II as a sorc and try and beat the game without taking any other party members. Do a speed run of some of your favorite old games (Metroid comes to mind)

But whatever you do: don't go outside. The sun is bad for us. Gamers live longer.

Final Fantasy IV (that's what you meant, right? ) : Done
Baldur's Gate II : Done, solo, as a bard.

Used to do speedruns of Rockman 2, Ninja Gaiden 3 and Super Metroid but I've had enough of that for a quite a while.

OMG has no one mentioned MINECRAFT yet? Most amazing game and different enough from DDO to be awesome and amazing enough in its own right to be amazing.

Did I mention that Minecraft is amazing? I mean, you can tame cats and fight dragons; what more could you want?

(well, you can design fully functional computers in it too if that's what interests you)
