I have the same issue....why am i even messing with this? just shut down Lord of the rings and turn it into DDO.... seems like it would be an upgrade for those users. I don't need a downgrade.

I tried the thing stricq got as a response as well and it also does not work. The client is hung up on "Examine Game Data". Unable to decrypt and de-serialize the date downloaded from the server.

And also, for the record: telling people to submit tickets is not the way to go here. The scale of this problem is MASSIVE, and you don't want employees wasting time with thousands of tickets with the same identical problem. Even writing automated scripts for such an event is a waste of time. Here's what you should do:

    1) Put an announcement on your WEBSITE acknowledging the problem.
    2) Once you have come up with a solution, post it on your website. (And the fact that you will do this should also be stated in the previous step).

I agree, and perhaps maybe a file fix exefile that copies whatever needs to be done to the correct spots. Aka, a mini patch installer that copies correct registry info & config files to the needed locations.

Yes, I submitted a ticket as Cordovan suggested to the Support Site and Yes, it was an auto-response about connectivity issues.

I am just saying that when something is a KNOWN ISSUE they shouldn't be kicking out garbage auto-responses when they ASK for people to submit tickets.

Fixed. Deleted my DDO file via uninstall. Renamed few remaining files to DDO Old. Used the DDO High Res Install Files to reinstall. I am in game now...

    Did not have to re-download

    Awww!!
    It's easy!
Just wipe your frigging pc clean, reinstall windows, reinstall ddo (with uber massive awesomesauce pando media booster included) and you're ready to go!
    By this time
    - cove will be gone
    - google has collected enough personal data to conquer the world
    - cars will fly
    - you will laugh as how clumsy, big, unfit weird and worthless Iphone 20 was
    - Real Madrid will be a country (Lionel Messi will be the president at age 60)
    - Urban pigeons will be the only real threat mankind will face. (dang rats with wings)
    - The Big Bang Theory will be on season 80 and still fun. Sheldon will be fully android by then.
    - Ipods will be tattoes
    - Paladins will be the powerhouse and DDO will have threads from sorcerers asking for a pali nerf.
    - (insert nonsense factoid prediction here)

    and so on...
    I don't care...

Ok... so i guess a clean reinstall works...

But if you're like 99% of the other people that get rid of installers after they've done their job, I think that means a re-download...

    Talking It works

The previous fix worked for me. Uninstall through ddo install client, then install again... have to go through ALL updates, but it removes the glitch....

Didn't find out about this posting until a few minutes ago (thank you Phemt81)

    http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=371726

    The above was my post.

I work. I have a job that starts at 6am PST, and I don't get home until AFTER Turbine shuts down at 9pm EST (usually...today I had good traffic). So..that being said....yeah....not very happy right now. This game is how I unwind....that's why I pay for it. Yes....I'm VIP...but that's not the point.

I uninstalled prior to finding this post and am in process of re-installing. So my game time for this evening on my 5th life TR is shot. Gone.

Not too happy right now. Nope. Rather ticked would be a nice word. Ticket submitted anyways. Complaint submitted to QC as well.

I tried to call in to Turbine at 5:50 pm PST and no one was there....this was before I decided to uninstall the game.

    So....all that said....I get to wait....until tomorrow....and lose out on game-time. I lose money.

Reimbursement? doubt it. It'd be a nice surprise though....but doubt it.

    • Open the "Backup" folder
    • Copy the entire contents of your backup folder (Ctrl + A to highlight all, Ctrl + C to copy)
    • Go back to the Dungeons & Dragons Online program folder (Click the Back button in the upper left corner of the folder window) and press Ctrl + V to paste, choosing Yes to All when prompted to overwrite files.

Upon relaunching the game it should proceed to redownload the most recent patches.

Nope....just got up and the download was completed. Guess what program I can't use because I'm stuck on the Examine Game Data part?

    Went to here: http://support.turbine.com/link/port...Game-Data-step

    No help. Nada. Nuffin....zilcho.

So...moving on. Just in case I did the "find-the-Turbinelauncher-icon-and-right-click-to-run-as-an-admin" game and that didn't work either. Did the copy/paste thing with the back up folder. Nope. Nothing.

for now,the only knows solution is a compleate reinstall.
the bug replaces some vital files with lotro files, which killing the game.
reinstall fixed it for me,and it got even better-luancher stopped crashing after going to system try.

I disagree. I've completely uninstalled the game, redownloaded the game, and installed....nothing.

Stuck on "Examine Game Data" --- "Unable to decrypt and de-serialize the data downloaded from the server".

Hate to say it, but if they don't fix it and do something about this cluster....I may quit. Won't have a choice if the thing don't work.

Did their canned response include instructions for restoring your installation from the previous backup? I read some people have been able to solve the problem by restoring their TurbineLauncher.exe.config file from the /Backup directory and some have solved the problem by blanking the relevant registry entry (via start/run) to force a download of that new config file.

I apologize but my work requires me to run off now and I don't have time to repost those right now. They're relatively easy to locate both here and in the General Discussion forum if you need more info on it...

The restore from the back-up directory does not work, and I'm in no mood to go poking around in my registry. Nor do I really want to spend my limited free time to uninstall, and reinstall. I think that's a reasonable position.

I've gotten no response from my ticket yet.

Well at least I got a canned response even though it was not regarding the issue. Hm.

I would at the least appreciate some more Support responsiveness on the forums here. Tell us you are working on it, or tell us we will probably have to re-install. There does not seem to be any reason for the lack of communication so I would really like to hear something/anything.

I suggested only restoring that one .config file in the hope I could find a fast easy solution.

I wish you sucess with your ticket and a good outcome at the end.
