    Exclamation DDO launcher has LOTRO graphics/Decrypt Error

    this problem started today during the downtime,7/5/2012,and the problem is:
    the launcher is changed and it looks like lord of te ring online launcher,and it shows me the notes from the other game,too.
    the launcher tries to connect but failes on examin game data part.
    allso,I have never downloaded the other game,so I don't get what is the reason for that.
    1)is reinstalling the game will solve the problem?
    2)what could cause it?

    not sure what caused this problem, but i think it had something to do with the maintenance today, as my game worked fine before the downtime, and after the downtime ddo decided it wanted to be lotro instead. Currently, i have uninstalled and am reinstalling the game. hopefully that will fix the issue.

    I had the same problem. unistalled, re-dloaded. reinstalled. Now I'm stuck at the Examine Game Data Point. "Unable to decrypt and deserialize the data downloaded from the server"

    Good Luck. Be sure to let us other luckless jerks know if you figure it out.

    same here. It updated correctly on my laptop but somehow switched to LOTR on my PC. Uninstalled and reinstalled and I'm getting the same error [unable to decrypt and de-serialize the data downloaded from the server]

    Wondering if LOTR somehow got installed and if it's possible to uninstall LOTR (though I never actually downloaded it / installed it in the first place)

    Problem seems to have been resolved by Turbine. Was getting the same "..." as everyone else. Did not do anything on my own to fix it and am now able to log in.

    Default Well, this is an unexpected malfunction.

    It's good to see I am not the only one having the problem, the game launches fine on the laptop, but the desktop seems to believe it is LOTR online. Like most of you, I have never installed that game.

    I have this awkward feeling that it's trying to get the update from the LOTR server instead of DDO... but what do I know.

    In other news, I was hoping a restore point would solve it, but it didn't help me...

    opening up my turbine launcher (TurbineLauncher.exe - config file) it has this:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
    <configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
    <startup>
    <requiredRuntime version="V1.1.4322" safemode="true"/>
    <supportedRuntime version="V1.1.4322" />
    </startup>
    <appSettings>
    <add key="Launcher.DataCenterService.GLS" value="http://moria.gls.lotro.com/GLS.DataCenterServer/Service.asmx"/>

    <add key="DataCenter.GameName" value="LOTRO" />
    <add key="DataCenter.DefaultCenter" value="LOTRO" />
    <add key="Product.DocumentFolder" value="The Lord of the Rings Online"/>
    <add key="Launcher.DocumentFolder" value="Launcher"/>
    </appSettings>
    <system.net>
    <settings>
    <servicePointManager expect100Continue="false" />
    </settings>
    </system.net>
    </configuration>

    interesting no?

    where is the help at?

    *edit*

    found a previous version that has this:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true"/>
    <startup>
    <requiredRuntime version="V1.1.4322" safemode="true"/>
    <supportedRuntime version="V1.1.4322" />
    </startup>
    <appSettings>
    <add key="Launcher.DataCenterService.GLS" value="http://gls.ddo.com/GLS.DataCenterServer/Service.asmx"/>

    <add key="DataCenter.GameName" value="DDO"/>
    <add key="DataCenter.DefaultCenter" value="DDO"/>
    <add key="Product.DocumentFolder" value="Dungeons and Dragons Online"/>
    <add key="Launcher.DocumentFolder" value="Launcher"/>
    </appSettings>
    </configuration>

    going to paste the old into the new and see what happens.

    Please file a support ticket to DDO Tech Support for further assistance. To do so, please click here, then click "Support Center", then "Submit a Ticket". Send it to DDO Tech Support, and please include your launcher and patch log, if available. Thanks, and we apologize for the inconvenience!

    I normally log straight in after an update
    to clear the deck so to speak for gaming
    later tonight, 5 am your time.

    Glad I didn't, looks like the first lot of
    launchers was bugged.

    Cheers

    Default Are You &*%$# Kidding Me!!!!!!!

    File a bug report? I've filed dozens of those over the years and never gotten any kind of response, or even acknowledgement it was read. Now can't log into the game which thinks it is LOTRO and thats your response? What I want to say, I cant, cause it will get this post deleted and me some infraction points. But Cordovan, just know, that's what I'm thinking. And not the nice one, the one with extra expletives. And yes, I mean you.

    Seriously, I can't help but shake my head at the standard "support a ticket" response to something that is clearly a new, pervasive error entirely caused by a mistake on turbine's end.

    Cordovan is not asking you to submit a bug report. We are asking you to submit a Technical Support ticket. All Technical Support tickets receive a response. Once you've submitted a ticket, our technical support team can work with you directly to collect more information about the problem and work towards a solution.
