    did you deleted the folders left in the install directory after uninstall?

    Dear Turbine,

    Thanks for another reply - this time I am getting advice that was sent to people last night, and people were reporting then that their 'fix' did not work.

    It did not work for me either. No surprise.

    This kind of 'support' is really disappointing.

    Vallin.

    remove everything related to turbine on your PC, clear the registry and then reinstall, worked for me, though now my graphics appear fubared but i guess thats probably unrelated

    Default I'm past the log jam!

    Simple uninstall/reinstall wasn't enough for me; I needed two extra steps:

    1. I had to manually delete the directory my DDO was installed in. There was a few megs of trash left over there.

    2. I hunted through the registry for instances of "Turbine". I found one reasonably large tree that I saved to disk, then deleted. It looked like this:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\15b35190-c6f9-11d9-9669-0800200c9a66_is1]
    "Inno Setup: Setup Version"="5.1.5"
    "Inno Setup: App Path"="E:\\DDO Unlimited"
    "InstallLocation"="E:\\DDO Unlimited\\"
    "Inno Setup: Icon Group"="Turbine\\DDO Unlimited"
    "Inno Setup: User"="My_User_Name"
    "Inno Setup: Selected Tasks"="desktopicon"
    "Inno Setup: Deselected Tasks"="quicklaunchicon"
    "DisplayName"="Dungeons & Dragons Online ®: Eberron Unlimited ™ v01.12.00.803"
    "DisplayIcon"="E:\\DDO Unlimited\\icon.ico"
    "UninstallString"="\"E:\\DDO Unlimited\\unins000.exe\""
    "QuietUninstallString"="\"E:\\DDO Unlimited\\unins000.exe\" /SILENT"
    "DisplayVersion"="01.12.00.8032"
    "Publisher"="Atari, Inc."
    "URLInfoAbout"="http://www.atari.com"
    "HelpLink"="http://www.ddo.com/support/"
    "Comments"="Developed by Turbine, Inc."
    "NoModify"=dword:00000001
    "NoRepair"=dword:00000001
    "Inno Setup CodeFile: HighresPage_CheckBox1"="1"

    I was tempted to try only removing the NoModify and NoRepair keys, but I had already tried several variations on uninstall/reinstall hell, and wasn't about to leave much to chance this time. Thank God it worked after culling this tree from the registry.

    BTW, I'm reinstalling using a freshly-downloaded copy of the high-res DDO install. It may not make a difference, but you never know.

    Didn't work for me, I'm still getting the "unable to decrypt..." error after a full re-download and re-install. I can't do another re-download of the full high res client or I'm going to start running into my bandwidth cap by the end of the month and Comcast doesn't throttle when you go over, they cut you off, no appeals. It's way too early in the month for multiple gigs of downloads on an ISP with a hard cap of 250GB (total both directions) in a household with multiple computers that watch Netflix/Hulu/Youtube and back up things via FTP to remote servers regularly.

    I sent my launcher log into tech support as a reply to the knowledge base articles I'd already tried that they spewed back at me when I put in my ticket.

    I figured it might have been the Awesomium Process using some other browser than the previous standard one, so I checked all installed versions for proxies and disabled my antivirus just in case, no dice.

    He didnt say re-install. he said complicated re-install. Althought it isnt that complicated.

    Uninstall.

    Find your Turbine folder under program files. Inside of it there is a folder named "DDO unlimited" rename that folder to "DDO Old".

    Re-install.

    Done.

    Are you going to have to re-download the game? If you don't still have the installers from the last time, Yes. Is it annoying that we have to fix their mistakes. Yes.

    But if you want to fix the issue without having to wait on them to figure out how they're going to fix the issue from their end then this is the solution.

    Cheers & God Speed.

    Yeah, I am done waiting on them to figure out a fix. They keep having me going around in circles now deleting things and flushing the dns cache blah blah blah it is still broken. Nothing that they have told me to do has fixed a thing.

    Full reinstall for me. Ugh. Very poor, Turbine.

    Has there been any news on a fix that works yet?

    So far none of the tech support responses have resolved the issue.

    It took an uninstall / reinstall just to get rid of the Lotro launcher issue and I am still not back in game.

    Bugs in game are one thing, but when they spread to the launcher. What's next I click on chrome and it pulls up the lotro in game browser or something?

    A fix for this needs to be pushed to all the clients.

    Let me know if this works please (Important: ONLY perform these steps if you find the two files specified, if you don't see them in there do nothing but do post a reply saying that you didn't find them):

    1. Click on the Windows "Start" button and choose "Computer" from the list
    2. In there double-click on your C: drive (may display as "Local Disk C")
    3. Double-click on "Program Files" (note: if you see "Program Files (x86)" double-click on that one instead)
    4. In that folder double-click on the "Turbine" folder and then the "Dungeons & Dragons Online" folder (it might be "DDO Unlimited" if it is a newer install)

    With the launcher closed out (make sure the ddo icon isn't up near the Windows clock), look in this folder for these two files listed:

    client_cell_2.dat
    client_map_2.dat

    (If you see these two they most likely will be around 1,024kb in size)

    If you find them in your install folder right-click these two files (and only those two specifically) choosing delete (leave them in the recycle bin just in case for now) and relaunch the game to test.

    FULL WIPE and FULL REINSTALL is only thing that fixed mine. I was in game tonight.

    Suggestion to Turbine: IF this was caused by having the client open but not logged in then perhaps a PSA that people should FULLY EXIT the game during maintenance or updates will prevent this kind of aggravation in the future.

    It didn't work for me for the first uninstall but the second time I deleted everything in the program files folder and in my documents... anything related to DDO. Why it would work for some and not others is beyond me.

    I do recall one program that I use to occasionally clean my computer having an effect on DDO. CCleaner wiped out all temporary files that DDO didn't need to run (such as map textures I believe). I realized this cause after I used CCleaner, all maps were lagging as if they were loading for the first time. I'm not gonna recommend CCleaner as a solution but if you have some sort of program that cleans files, try that between the uninstall / install process.

    That being said, I didn't use CCleaner during the uninstall, nor did I remove anything from the registry. In fact, I followed the troubleshooting thread, restarted PC and was back in game in no time...

    http://support.turbine.com/link/port...l-LOTRO-or-DDO

    Of course, then it took me another 30 minutes to reprogram my mouse for hotkey buttons lol

    This worked for a guildmate but not for me.

    What eventually worked for me was using a separate uninstaller, a regisrty cleaner and double checking to make sure nothing was left, kinda like the Romans did to Carthage. Then a reinstall and wait for the patches to finish.
    All of that got me back in game.

    However there is 'something' different about my graphics now. I can't put my finger on it though. At first glance it seems darker, sharper, while at the same time softer in places. I know it's weird and may even be just me going crazy, but I swear it 'looks' different. I saved my ddo.keymap and userpreferences.ini files and copied them back into the correct place. I'll just have to play some and see if I can't figure out what is different. The change isn't totally a bad thing it's just different...
