Default Need advice for an Arti build

I've decided I want to start playing DDO again with a friend, it's been a while. I'd like to make an artificer build but I dont have much experience with them.

I was thinking 18/2 with a monk splash for evasion so I could do traps, and the race would be Half Elf with rogue dilettante? I would like to be able to do most, if not all traps/locks, and focus mainly on crossbow.

I would really appreciate if someone could link a build like this to me, or help with feats/stats and things like that. Thanks in advance!

edit: i'd mostly be duoing with my friend, if that matters. I have plenty of experience, and enough money, so those aren't an issue.

For most traps even on elite evasion is not really needed. I've run my arti to 20 twice pure and am working on round 3 now, asides from a rare blown box when i forget to swap to trap gear its not a problem getting them. That said why monk instead of rogue? artis get plenty of feats, and rogue would add more skill points. Can't be for melee, unless wraps can be equipped with a rune arm..

Monk would give more saves and hp, and the extra feats rogue wouldn't give.
Rogue would give skill points and more damage if i'm correct?
Judging by what i've seen at least, I think monk would help a little more.
I really think someone like me would need evasion, you would say the same if you knew how I played :P.

Stats might be a bit tight.. For an arti you need 19 dex for improved precise shot, assuming you care about repeater damage. You also need as much int as you can get for the sp, rune arm damage or to hit spells. Then con, 14 is the lowest i like to run with. First life you can go 16 dex, add one levelup to it then get a +2 tome either from drop or favor reward, then 14 con and the rest int, usually near 18. That won't help much with bonus saves...

Feats you will need empower, maximize (both for blade barrier, truly amazing on artis specialized in it), toughness, precise shot, improved precise shot. Quicken is good for not being interupted, and spell focus and improved spell focus evoc can improve rune arm DCs. Probably some more i have forgotten. Lots of arti info under the specialists thread, and with 18 levels arti this would qualify for posting there.

What could my stats look like to start with?

16 dex 18 int 14 con? 1 level up to dex and the rest into int? also, any idea what order i should take certain feats?

In my sig is a link to an Einstein build. Splashing rogue is absolutely not needed and deferring blade barrier and q few other spells would be absolutely dreadful for the enjoyment of this class.

Instead, work on HP and reflex saves. On my wizard with a solid HP score (halfelf as well) ive been able to walk through almost any trap by buffing appropriately even in a full party due to a high reflex saves (paladin dilettante, insightful reflexes), buffs (resist/protection from elements) and HP.

For a WF 32 point build go 10 str, 16 dex (add one levelup before 15) 14 con, 18 int, 6 char and wisdom. Forgot to mention point blank shot as one of the feats, and it would be first. At 3rd level augment summon helps a lot, the tougher the pet is the better tank it makes (when/if it works).

Humans could probably get the same stats or close to it. For the rest of feat order just go into the specialist thread, lots of arti builds there.
