    Default Voicechat individual volume control

It would be BEYOND lovely to be able to individually control peoples audio level in voicechat. In a full party with everyone useing a mic 2 will blow out your eardrums 3 will be at decent sound level and one you can only hear if you cancel ALL other sound. No matter how much time you spend talking folks through tweaking their mic settings they NEVER get it right. Wouldn't it just be more player friendly to give us a slider bar for each player?

/signed many times over. Hands down one of the largest annoyances to me in parties.

This has been asked for so many times over the last 6+ years that people have given up hope. But for what it's worth I'll give another /signed

At the risk of sounding agreeable, /signed.

It would also be nice if we could adjust voice and sounds such that game sounds didn't have to be at 0.01-0.05 in order to hear voice. We need better control than that.

Currently my best solution is to squelch the too loud people for the duration of the quest/raid and unsquelch them later. That should be put very high on tubine's to-do list.

    Signed.
I'd like to have a command to control it for each player.

    For example:
    /volume player_name
    Result: 100 (default value)

    /volume player_name 110
Result: 110 (the sound volume was increased by 10%)

    /volume player_name 90
Result: 90 (the sound volume was decreased by 10%)

I like the idea, but I don't think it's technically feasible using the legacy GameSpy Voice SDK built into the DDO client. Each packet stream is pre-mixed before any filter is applied making modulation control of individual streams very difficult. The best they could do with the current code is write a custom normalization filter that would either boost or limit the gain to average out everything which would add a not insignificant load to the CPU.

A better solution would be to replace GameSpy with a more modern VoIP package with this feature already implemented.

I agree with the individual mic settings.

However, the above statement irks me. The assumption is always that it's the mic settings. But in the same group, I have one person telling me I'm overly loud, two can't hear me at all, and one says i"m normal. How on earth are my settings responsible for hitting all THREE states at the same time in the same group?

The chat code is flawed and awful. I wish there was an economically viable option for Turbine to open some sort of Teamspeak or vent for each server, that parties can move into and out of as they form/reform individual rooms so we could all just control our own sound. Finally.

I play in an AV studio type environment, and I have literally run a compressor set to 100/1 on some nights because one or two people are way too loud and a few are way too soft, in the same group, running multiple raids.

If they cant put an individual volume on each person for every other player to control, a quick solution is to normalize all voice chat, so each player is the same relative loudness, then the other players can set the volume of voice chat where they want it with everyone being the same relative level.

Edit: Of course right after I post the above, I then saw this:

    Thumbs up

Agreed this has been asked for more than a couple times over the years. Devs have their hands full with the current expansion.

That said, would really like a sound engine update similar to he recent graphics engine. In last
six years there have been great advances in sound (directional positioning, channels, etc) not the least of which is better quality compression codex encoding to reduce bandwidth. Adding features to normalize all or set individual players is just the icing on the cake we would most notice.

I hate having to turn down my sound because of one person in the party that makes my ears bleed.
