Default Premium accounts seem to be getting cheated by Turbine

Two weeks ago I went from VIP to Premium account. Inspite of the fact that I spent real money for 40 shared bank slots for a total of 60 while VIP. I no longer have access to the 40 slots I paid for since I have not yet purchased the shared bank since going premium.

Seems like this should be illegal since I have paid real money for 40 slots.

In the two weeks since converting I have lost connection to the server at log in about 10 percent of the time. This started happening the day I went Premium so I assume there is a connection. Some days I just give up trying to get in. I paid real money for the $80 package that includes access to most of the epic adventures. However, if DDO prioitizes me such that I can not log on to DDO, it seems they are again illegally denying me access to product I purchased.

Seems unfair to sell me product and then deny me access to it.

I got the extra shared bank slots when I was a VIP, and IIRC, there is a warning that if you lose acess to your base shared bank, you need to reactivate it before you can use the extra slots.

If someone is VIP and don't have all 4 upgrades on Shared bank yet, they can confirm it checking the DDO Store.

[EDIT] Yes, there is a warning. Just not bold and underlined.

I want DDO to be a better game. Those are my personal suggestions on: Ammunition, Archmage, Combat Stances, Deities, Dispel Magic, Epic Destiny Map, Fast Healing, Favor, Favored Enemy, Half-elf Enhancements, Monk Kensai, Monk Stances, Past Life, Potency, Potions, Ranger Spells, Summons, Tiered Loot.

Strange, I have a free account and have very little in the way of connection issues. I doubt it's related to account status.

Could just be an incentive to go back to VIP ... I have not particular connection issues but I wouldn't exclude some "funny business" going on.

Call account support. IIRC, they can fiddle with the shared bank, since you bought it. I seem to remember someone had that issue and it was resolved through account support.

On the topic of log in priority, the wiki claims that the queue function was dropped when it went f2p. So, either the wiki is wrong or you're having unrelated internet issues. Personally, the only time I've ever been unable to login is when the server is actually down.

I have a VIP and a Premium account and I can honestly say that I have not seen any difference in login times. What I have noticed on both has been the increase of lag over the last few days, which I am assuming is due to CC. I did lag-out one time, but that was on the VIP.

For some odd reason, you have to purchase the actual bank... which you get for ''free'' as vip. The 40 slots you bought are 'extra' and aren't considered the bank itself.

The bank itself costs 1495 TP for the initial 20 slots(75 TP per slot)... but for each 10 extra slot upgrade you must pay 995 TP(100 TP per slot), an increase of 33% TP per slot yet you can't use them unless you buy the initial bank.

It's illogical(unless you look at it from a purely greed standpoint, one more way to get more monies) and has angered other former VIPs before aswell, but there it is.

Since the www.ddo.com/vip page states the difference between basic F2P/Premium/VIP and makes a point of diffenentiating the priority queueing differences. I'm willing to bet queueing didn't 'go away' as soon as they turned the game F2P. Otherwise....there would never have been a comparison to be had period.

I also have a VIP and a Premium account and while it is rare (usually after some downtime when everyone is clawing to log back in or during an event period), I have seen world queueing going on and have been told the world was full as well. It's never been a large enough deal to care much about - second attempt a couple minutes later is usually enough. And when I say rare I've had it happen like maybe 3 or 4 times in the past however long it's been since DDO went F2P.

You can not upgrade a thing which you dont own.

I am sorry to hear that your connection gone worse. I am premium member for 3 years and dont suffer log-in issues.

Finally I dont feel like getting cheated as premium member. To me, it was and still is the better choice.

You paid for 'Extra Shared Bank Slots', not the Shared Bank itself.

    From the DDO wiki: ddowiki.com/page/DDOstore/Premium
Shared Bank: Item Storage (20 Slots) 1,495 TP
VIPs get the Shared Bank for free.
Premium players who were formerly VIPs will have withdrawal-only access to any items left in their Shared Bank Vault. In order to deposit items, they must purchase the Shared Bank Vault using Turbine Points.
This is currently the only way to trade bound to account items.

Shared Bank: Item Storage I (+10 Slots) 995 TP
Must have the Shared Bank (20 Slots) Account Option, either purchased or by being a VIP.
Upgrades your Account-based Shared Bank with 10 additional item slots of storage space (30 total). You must have access to the Shared Bank to get this additional space.

I have this as well. I've never noticed any differences in either log-in time or in-game performance between the two accounts.

You dont "lose access" to the slots, they become withdraw only, since you dont own the shared bank.

You didnt buy the shared bank, you bought expansion slots for the shared bank you got as a perk for VIP. As a Premium player, you get to pay real money for most things in the game. Welcome to being Premium.

How is this illogical? Buying the slots shouldn't auto give you the shared bank. They are just EXTRA slots.

As for the connection issue, I personally don't think that is the case. I've been premium for well over a year now and I've lost connection twice. Once was when the servers went down, the other was an issue on my end. I play often.

I can't see the logic of the OP either. Buying expansions to the shared banks means attachments to it. Now that the access to shared bank is lost, they dangle as read only space. As others posted, it's marked out multiple times and the naming is not truly misleading.
Connection problems I'd rather search at the event and huge overload. I'm premium for a long time now and never had it really wait in a queue. I'm usually in within a few seconds unless there's a server issue.

There is a difference between "extra shared bank slots" and "access to the shared bank". Free and Premium players don't have access to the shared bank at all - they have to pay for it. So you have "extra slots" in something that you can't access. You have to purchase the access just like everyone else did, then your extra slots will be there.

This is the summary description when you go to the "shared bank" category in the store. It doesn't say upgrade, extension or expansion, what it says is "10 additional slots". So if you're going to argue semantics of what exactly was purchased, I'd suggest you start from there.

Never having been VIP, is it spelled out explicitly that VIPs are the only ones to get a free shared bank? Having likely never seen the base shared bank for sale in the store, can you blame someone for not realising they'd have to shell out more TP to access a feature they thought they had already bought and paid for?

Sure, technically he might be getting exactly what he paid for, but it's still cow-poo as far as customer service/satisfaction/expectation is concerned.

From my experience, I started playing when the game went FTP and stayed as FTP/Premium player some months before becoming VIP. I have never seen a difference regarding connection issues, even the info at DDO.com stated I would be "last in queue".

About the shared bank, when I became VIP I read I was being granted "access to shared bank", not owning that feature, but more like a rent thing. So coming back to premium meant I would have no access to that feature again. Seems WAI.

Investing in extras without buying the base item isn't a good idea - it's like spending $25,000 to upgrade your apartment, then letting the lease run out.

Not that I've ever done that, mind you.
