    Default Lost connection ... Attempt 20 of 20 ...

Please no one respond with a link to the knowledge base on this issue. I would love some other suggestions because I have tried everything on the knowledge base and they don't work. In fact I've been trying them over and over for about a week. With that said, I'll describe my problems.

First off, I was disconnected from the server last week (Monday or Tuesday while playing). I was unable to recconect after the disconnect. I recieved the "Authinticating Logon Attempt 1 of 20" message all the way up to 20 and then told that the connection timed out. After trying everything on the knowledge base for support, I was still unable to log on. My laptop then also had other connectivity issues and my brother (has his education in computers) suggest that I may have a virus causing me the issues or that my laptop was just old and the network card could be bad. I went a bought a new desktop (was time to upgrade anyway).

After getting everything reinstalled on the desktop, I was able to log into the game ... until I tried to zone to a new area. Then the loading screen stayed on screen until I recieved a "connection to the server was lost" message. I called my ISP, we went through everything on the knowledge base again. We set up port forwarding on my router. Over and over we did the things that I had already tried on my own.

It gets late and I go to bed. I get up this morning ... and I'm back to "Authenticating Logon Server Attempt 1 - 20) and then "Connection to Server Timed Out." Now its time for me to head to work. If anyone else has had this type of issue, been through all the knowledge base, and found a different solution. Please post here.

    Thank You!

    Default Hmmm ...

Home for lunch and testing my connection again... I get to the Character select screen and can choose a character, but again I am stuck at the loading screen until I recieve a "Connection to the server has been lost" message.

My ISP is Verizon FiOS if that helps anyone give me any advice.

    Thanks

The only time I have ever seen a connection attempt is after an update and I have to give DDO permission through my firewall.

No idea if that is in the knowledge base (don't think I've ever looked at it) or if that is even the problem you are having.

I hope that you are able to get it fixed.

Check your anti-virus program as well.
I had an issue after a anti-virus update that started blocking DDO.
Quick way to test it is to disable the anti-virus try to connect to DDO.
If you connect then you can go back to the anti-virus program and adjust the settings.

Same with Windows firewall if it is active.

I have a similar problem. I've resent my ticket twice....here is a copy. Turbine tech support just sends me an automated request for dxdiag which I fire back then nothing..no reply...maybe it takes time I dunno.

Hello, I recently reactivated my account after 6yrs away. Unfortunately I've noticed a persistent problem that I can't seem to correct.
First off let me explain what I can do. I can make toons and load into the game and enter the following zones : starter island, harbor, marketplace and all the houses. I can also enter and play the quests that are immediately entered from those zones except the crafting hall in house k.
The problem, I'm having, is that when I try to enter any zone like delaras, tangleroot, waterworks etc that have subquest zones inside I usually get stuck in the loading screen. After several minutes I'll get a "lost connection to server" message. Then I can no longer log into that character for one to several hours...its totally random when I can get access again. I can however log into another character with no problem. Now, back to the house k crafting hall. Without fail, I can guarantee to freeze any of my characters if I try to enter the crafting hall. Hours later when I can finally log in, I'll find myself inside the crafting hall, but then I only need to exit and run zones to the harbor then return to crafting hall and get stuck again.
I have tried numerous things to correct this problem 1/ Delete and reinstall DDO 2/ Run the repair.exe numerous times 3/ Start and play after a "cold boot" as suggested in support 4/ Turn off firewalls and anti-virus program 5/ Bypass router 6/ Port forward router tcp 80 udp 2900-2913 and 9000-9013 7/ Call my isp to ensure nothing is blocked /8 Lower video settings
9/ LOad and play on another computer. 10/ Flush dns 11/ Delete userpreferences.ini
Nothing I've tried has any effect. The only possible thing I can think of now is that maybe given my account is 6yrs old...it might be corrupt on the server "Thelanis" if such a thing is possible. I guess I should also mention the my broadband is excellent and have had no issues playing some 12+ online games since I've been away.

As of now I have 2 characters stuck in game...again

    Default Sigh ...

Well, thanks for your responses ...

Seems its an issue with no solution. I have changed the programs allowed through firewall on all three firewalls (windows, anti-virus, and router), I have opened ports 9000-9013 and 2900-2913, I have done port forwarding on my router, I have done an uninstall/reinstall of DDO, I have talked to my ISP about fair use policies, I have done clean boots, I have reset the router to factory defaults and then set up port farwarding, I have disabled all firewalls, and I bought a new computer (it was time to upgrade anyway). I then repeated most of these steps on the new PC.

Nothing has worked to resolve the issue ...

Well you just redid your machine, with the windows (or whatever) firewall enabled, directly connect your modem and bypass your router. Also, perhaps try firmware update to the router this often help alleviate strange issues like this for me before.

I've tried to help the poster over vent. Let me add a few things here.

When he says router, he means his cable modem.

The issue is happening on his laptop and a brand new out of the box desktop. It's unlikely that it's the computer, but anything is possible. We've tried to connect with the firewall disabled and it's still a no-go.

Verizon is sending him a new modem. Personally I think that was just someone's way of ditching his call as they didn't want to troubleshoot but hopefully it fixes the issue. I'll do my best to remind him to post here once he gets DDO back up and running.

Default Good news! (Hope it lasts)

Tracert timed out on hops 5-9, 11-12, and on 15 ... so it didn't look very good.

Verizon sent me a new router/modem ... well, newer ... I was very sceptical when I pulled it out of the box because it was the same brand / model /version / firmware ... only difference seemed to be that it was made about a year and half later than my older router ...

However ... after getting it up and running, the tracert was clean ... I started DDO and waited for the update to finish ... and the game loaded fine... WOOT !

Lets just hope that was the only problem and that I won't seen see a "Lost connection to server" message.

Good luck to all those out there having issues. If all else fails, it seems like a new modem/router from your ISP might help solve the issue.
