    Default Mac vmware + ddo = ?

I am in a situation where I need to play DDO on a mac. I have vmware with win7 but am running into problems with the mouse. Game loads good, seems fine but when I move the mouse it goes crazy (like the mouse is on ultra sensitive). Just does not seem to be a way around the problem.

Is anyone using vmware on their mac to play? If so what settings and how?

Is bootcamp the only way to go?

    thanks

Default Mac + VMware Fusion = Success

I spent some time working on my settings in vmware and wanted to pass along my experience. I have been playing ddo on my MacBook Pro (OS X 10.7.3, 2.53 GHz Intel Cor i5, 8GB). I am using VMware Fusion 4.1.2, running an instance of Windows 7 Ultimate. All in all a very nice laptop and newest software all around.

To get my mouse problem to work I had to change a vmware setting. Under Vmware Fusion | Preferences you need to set the Gaming option to "Always optimize mouse for Games". After that I was able to use Mouse Look. I am using a magic mouse, so there are other issues like not being able to use the left and right mouse buttons at the same time, I may switch to a normal mouse at some point. For now I am toggling between mouse look lock on and off between combat encounters.

As far as audio is concerned. I have set my USB headset to be used in windows. Remember though that volume is controlled in three places. The game, on the windows side and on the mac. I fumbled around for a while before I realized I had the volume on the mac turned off. I am not a mac person.

All in all I am pleased. I have little to no lag due to hardware issues. I wanted to pass this info on if anyone has problems. For now, I think playing DDO on mac works. You will need to play in an instance of windows whether that be one in bootcamp or Vmware.

I used this wine solution here to play DDO natively on my MBP: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManage...ation&iId=2910

I did that for about a year but have gone back to dual booting, less effort involved to keep it all running smoothly (I just delete and reinstall DDO every now and again to keep it going smoothly rather than worrying that each DDO or mac update is going to break something that involves research and fixing).
