Procedure is the standard:
1. I will open a trade window with you a place items in for you to verify if you like.
2. You will send me a tell containing the TP code.
3. I will redeem and verify the arrival of the TP.
4. Upon verification of TP arrival I will complete trade.

You don't get a code for the expansion, its just added to your account.

You only get a code for the optional TPs.

according to tolero's faq on the pre-order:

How do I add the expansion to my existing DDO account?

After purchasing the expansion, a product key will be sent to your email address. Log into https://myaccount.turbine.com and enter this product key. Select “yes” to upgrade, and then select the appropriate option for your account, read and agree to the Terms of Service, and click submit.

so you are correct, you do not get a "code". you get a "key". i have no idea what the difference is but im pretty sure it works pretty close to the same way. But it is not "just added to your account".
