Default Why would anyone craft Salt greensteel weapon any more?

Aspect of Salt greensteel is Water + Negative. Not that such weapons were ever all that common to begin with, but once Harbinger of Madness pack was introduced, I do not see why anyone would make them at all. Compared to getting 24 Larges, running the chain a few times to acquire Polycurse Dagger takes very little effort. Moreover, a lot of mobs are resistant to cold and negative damage, but not to the dagger's curse effects. Granted it is a dagger, and is good mostly for TWF types, but a caster or a THF probably never went for Corrosive Salt weapon[1] anyway.

[1] Corrosive Salt accessory or DT armor is a different story, and remains viable

The dagger is not great DPS, and the curse it inflicts on you is extremely annoying, imo. A better question is why make a salt weapon over a Calomel weapon from the challenges.

I use the polycurse dagger in my off hand and the epic midnight greeting the two of them together on my rog gives great results. The dagger prots the same effect as the woo woo stick in the neg level dept and on epic or elite runs that effect rocks. I dont seem to get hit with the curse very much, maybe 1x at most on a big fight, but then im a rog 1 shot 1 kill.

My bard got a Polycurse dagger few months ago. Being sword-and-board (don't ask) he had no use for it, and the dagger stayed in bank until my TR reached level 14 yesterday. First thing I did after leveling was go to Aussircaex Valley. Against spiders and wolves I used triple-fire rapier + paralyzing handaxe, against giants same rapier + Polycurse dagger. Was not paying attention to proc rate, but survived fights with up to three giants, and got 100 kills (in two visits). Although giant rare did not proc.

The TR in question can cast Remove Curse, so curse vector was not a problem.

I think the better question is, why would anyone have crafted a Corrosive Salt greensteel weapon even prior to that dagger? Better options have always been available. Its use is in crafting a guard item for porcupine-type melees who already have lightning strike and disintegrate guards. That's about it.

Besides, I think your question is unnecessary. I have never seen anyone with a Corrosive Salt weapon that they made on purpose. Ever.

Me either. Though, I will admit maybe someone with a bazillion spare ingredients may have made one for kicks.

Wear the symbiot. 10% more fort, exceptional con +1, greater false life. stops the curses... Pretty darn nice trinket.
