look for him on myddo and check if he is an officer in his guild, if he is not contact with an officer from that guild, if he is contact with the guild leader, if he is the guild leader avoid all that guild at all.

btw there is something missing in your explanation, did you pass him the item and then he squelched you?, or he recalled without getting the item?, guess it's the first but wanted to make sure

Squelch him, then smell his dressed and track him down and then burn his house!
No sorry more seriously... just track him and burn his house (since the smell part sounds a little too much feticist imho) XD

Ok ok for real this time... squelch the guy, mail his guild leader informing him about what kind of people he's running with and avoid contact with him again.
Those kind of people should be allowed just to solo quest instead of playing with a party of good people who just want to have fun and play.

Anyway your loot is YOUR and u've the right to do with it what do u want!
Personally if I'm raiding and don't need something I check if I got a friend who is used to party with me often and tell him if he want, elsewhere I put it on roll.
Maybe someone dislike this kind of things, maybe not, but as long as an item is in a chest with your name u are in the right to do with it whatever u find confotable to.

@Garlor: he already said that the guy get the item but instead of paying for it he recalled and squelched .

One bad apple spoils the bunch, and given the fact this game doesn't "block" accounts, but characters, it is safest to not run with that guild at all, as we don't know the other characters that player has.

    Pretty much this!
I'd inform the leader then if he doesn't take action against the member who scammed me I'd squelch him too and avoid the entire guild!

Plz explain, if you would be so kind. It just seems like Turbine and the mod staff are more worried about protecting the names of griefers and scam artists instead of letting the community self police in these types of matters.
Say I have a questionable morality and I have some beef with you, for whatever reason. I then make up some completely fabricated but shocking story, post it on the forums and start handing out your name in PM's. You cannot defend yourself since the only way you'll find out is if people start squelching you, or when/if your guildies/guild leader eventually ask what happened. And if you then go to my thread to clear your name, there will be your word against mine - and my accusation will now be public as well. Regardless there will be forum drama.

So I can see why they would want to avoid that. Everything that isn't sunshine and fluffy bunnies on the forums is in Turbine's eyes bad for business.

(N.B I'm of course not accusing the OP of anything like this.)

So, if making posts asking for the name is wrong Cord, what about sending a PM asking for name? And what would the difference be? I could still tell all my guildies and relevant ingame friends that are on the raiding scene what a complete Donkey this guy is.

What does Turbine wish to achieve by not allowing people to ask for a PM with a name of a fellow gamer that has ripped another fellow gamer off in a trade?

I'm guessing Turbine wishes to stop public drama.

    Unhappy

First I should mention that I am an officer in the guild that may or may not have been mentioned.

Then let me say that the sort of behaviour you described is better suited to the prepubescent MMOs out there and not our lovely DDO. I very rarely see selfish behaviour like this on DDO but when I do I squeltch or have a quiet chat to a guild leader/officer to see if the player can be reminded to mend their ways.

Appols from a guild officer in a guild that has been working very hard to remove this sort of stuff from our ranks.
