So which armors can be gotten easily by an alt or quite weakly equipped character?
Cove armor (coming this month), Elocator's Habiliment, House C challenge armor, Cannith crafted Lifeshield of X (deathblock, spearblock, greater fire resistance, whatever).

And which items can grant easy healing amplification?
Besides DT, you can get Healing amp from:

    Levik's Bracers (20%)
Greensteel Weapons (10-20-30, depending on tier)
Epic Gloves of the Claw (30%)
    Any ToD ring (20%)

Then the oddball healing amp, Fleshmaker, which stacks with other versions of Amp, that's available on the Finger Necklace, and the Fleshshaper's Brigandine.
Kobold sentient jewel still hate you.

With not much effort, and little luck you can get a flesh-shapers brigandine from the reign of madness chain and slot it with something useful like displacement proc or reflex+10. This armour will be better than most DT combinations, and the better DT will require far far far too many runs of SoS.

    IMHO.

DT armor is quite good actually.... just not for AC.

I do not know why reaver's reach LFMs are hard to fill.

Reaver's reach has always felt like a ghost town to me. Ot of way.. difficult to get to and from...

only a hand full of quests out there.

Bravery Bonus might have something to do with it.
The quests are difficult at hard and elite.

and, yes. A lot people do already have the armor.

but... there are other armor options (named) that seem to satisfy people.
and Epic items can get most of the stuff that DT has.

And getting the property you want on the armor is a PITA. Alot of older gamers have burned out on the quests.

Dragontouched is extremely good (for example, my 10% healing amp/20% healing amp/destruction armor is awesome, and my similar armor with tharnes instead of destruction will also be nice when it's done). As has been said, the real issue is getting a group. Just put up the lfm for level 20s for normal SoS, and you should really be fine, though. May have to be careful to put up the lfm during prime time, but that should be the only consideration necessary.

    Also...

My main wear it. Currently I have the runes I want, until I get some more epic gear anyway, then I might want to redo my DT.

My Wizard wears either Blue Dragon Scale or the Mabar event robe. DT has nothing to offer that I would want to wear it instead of those robes.

My Monk is very happy with his Icy Rainment. Maybe if I found the right runes I would wear my DT, but I'm lvl 20 and have other priorities.

The Madness chain armors seem to work well for many of my characters.

I am willing to run Reaver's reach. But do not feel like grinding them. (or waiting long for an LFM to fill)

I would actually like to run SoS more often, but the flagging method makes that difficult.

Dragontouched is still unbeatable in the right situations:

    X / X / Smiting (100 damage on 20, average 5 damage per swing)
    X / X / Destruction (-4 AC and -4% fortification on hit)

I strive to carry a robe with each of this on all of my melee characters, because you can help your party out a lot as well as increase your DPS. In the right quests, I'll switch off Red Dragon armor, Epic Marilith Chain, whatever because these can be better. And if you can't get those top DPS epic armors, you can give a lot of help to your party by carrying Destruction.

Just a note that they do not apply to unarmed combat.
