    Default PVP Poll

Had enough of all the guesing of how many and what type of player pvp. lets find out with an online survey.

ill let this run for a few weeks and post the results back here.

i figure i just wanted numbers not comments so this was easier.

    thanks to all who participate.

and sorry p2p is premium not vip

    Results for: pvp in ddo
    1) do you pvp in ddo
    yes. 46 (23.5%)
    no. 150 (76.5%)
    2) do you want pvp in ddo
    yes 52 (26.5%)
    no. 121 (61.7%)
    don't care 23 (11.7%)
    3) what type of member are you
    vip 59 (30.1%)
    premium. 131 (66.8%)
    f2p. 6 (3.1%)

    The results

The one thing it does tell me is that a percentage of players who pay in some way would like to see the pvp area expanded on.

Let's see what you all. Reckon.

    Cheers.

Btw I personally don't pvp or really what to encounter it. I don't mind the noise in the pits as it adds atmosphere.

What's the difference between VIP and pay-to-play?

Just from a statistical analysis point of view, your 2nd Question is skewed having only two options when in reality there are at least three - Yes, No and Don't Care

Question 1 also is not clear as there is PvP and also the Brawling Pits, while the Brawling Pits do allow players to combat each other, it really doesn't make a distinction between the free-for-all and the actual PvP instances that the developers put in, such as Death Match and Capture the Flag.

I don't believe you will get the answer your actually looking for, which I surmise as being how many care about PvP and what dynamic VIP/Premium/F2P cares the most.

good points. survey updated. will not change it again.

while i agree with the first point im trying to make this as simple as possible. depending on the results i may create a more detailed survey, but i just wanted to get a general idea of
    a. how many people actualy pvp in any way.
    b. do people want it or not or dont care
    c. what types of memberships are participating in the survey

tavern brawls ae just as much pvp as arena fights. any time there is a play fighting another player there is pvp going on

even if it's people vs person or person vs people or people vs people it's still ppppppvpppppp

    hope that clears it up.

How do you plan to capture the input of the people who don't care enough to even click on your link?

I suppose you could subtract the number of replies from the number of views... except don't forget to add this reply

While there are many things wrong with this poll the most glaring is the fact that it was placed in the PvP section. Only people that care about PvP are likely to see it to begin with therefor the results are I suspect, significantly skewed.

What about the issue that <5% of the gaming population actually frequents the forums? Are you going to go spamming the URL in general chat around frequented areas? Might cause issues for you (like it being against the rules).

If you want to get an idea on how many people play PvP then walk into the various brawl pits and see how busy they are at different times of the day, observe the LFMs (sometimes there are advertisements for PvP matches), post your survey etc.

For the survey, only people who care enough one way or another to reply are going to be included in your results which is hardly representative.

Yea sorry but I agree with the others. For an statistical analysis your survery won't show anything accurate.

    1. Its a bit short, not a real problem depending on what you want to study but is a bit odd having a 3 question survey.

    2. Demograph. You are targeting people who are most likely to respnod in 1 way, I.E putting it in the PvP forums. Also, without posting this in-game some how you are not getting a large enough variance of the people you question.

    3. I can enter the survey as many times as I like.... That there is the big one.

You need to do the survey again and make it so I can only answer once otherwise your results will be meaningless.

A survey isn't really nessecery for what you are asking. You need to do some observation as wax said above.

A survey would be more use trying to find out WHY people play PvP.... or why not.

this is an adware servay. while u can do the servey as many times as you like, it does keep a log of ip addresses. repeats r easy to weed out.

aur: all 3 of your points have already been countered.

wax: you can count the whole petri dish just by counting the density in a portion of it. every reasonable control has been met.

if you think you can do a better one than do it.

So, how do you know if I voted twice or if I have 2 people on the same PC who play the game?

What about if I reset my IP address?

Also, I dont think the other points have been addressed at all. Your results will be worthless. EDIT: Ill change that from worthless to irrelevent. I think thats more appropriate.
