    Default Fighter(paladin splash)

    Hi all,

I am thinking about running this for when I TR my first toon as a paladin.
Now this is just a beta/test idea but i think overall it has some merrit so i thought i would post it to see if you all could point out things i might have missed?

    Note(s):
    1) a +3 supreme tome was eaten in current life so they will kick in at 3/7/11 in the new life.
    2) the 20th level feat of Heavy repeater is a joke(maybe) as i don't know what else i could put in its place
    3) when leveling i tended to sit on some of the enhancement points as i was sorta of uncertain which direction i wanted to go. so in my final version they might get spent more on level/time.
    4) where i wanted to go with this... duel wielding blades
4a) why bastards? because they are cheap and plentiful and as i don't have a lot of uber swag.

Thank you for your time. (Fire away)

I have taken the liberty of summarizing and rearranging your post...

    Fighter 14 / Paladin 6

    Feats
    EWP: Bastard Sword
    Toughness
    TWF/ITWF/GTWF
    IC: Slashing
    Power Attack
    WF, GWF, WS, GWS: Slashing
    OTWF

    Cleave
    Great Cleave
    Combat Expertise
    EWP: Heavy Repeater

    .

The first section is all fine. The second section is iffy. Cleaves turn off off-hand chances, so they are pretty poor for TWFers. In all likelihood Combat Expertise will do nothing for you but eat up valuable build points for the Int requirement. Other choices you could make are: Improved Sunder, Stunning Blow, Sap, Quickdraw, more Toughnesses.

    .

    Enhancements
    Paladin
    KotC 1
    -Energy of the Templar 1
    -Courage of Good 1
    Extra Smite Evil 3
    Exalted Smite 1
    Paladin Toughness 2
    Extra Lay on Hands 1

    Fighter
    Kensei 2
    -Attack Boost 2
    -Critical Accuracy 2
    Strength 3

    Human
    Toughness 2
    Strength 1
    Improved Recovery 1

    Paladin
    Resistance of Good 1
    Bulwark of Good 1
    Charisma 2
    Saves Boost 2
    Extra Remove Disease 1
    Focus of Good 1
    Silver Flame 1

    Fighter
    Strategy Trip 2

    Human
    Charisma 1
    Intimidate 2
    Jump 2

    .

Same division here, although I would strongly encourage you to go HotD 1 instead of KotC 1. Three major enhancements missing are Paladin Divine Sacrifice, Fighter Haste Boost, and Human Versatility (Damage Boost). Dropping all of the second division gives you 22 AP to play with, which by fairly astonishing coincidence is 1 more than you need to get all the enhancements just mentioned. Another option is dropping Fighter Strength 3 for the Unyielding Sovereignty enhancement, basically an ultra-heal get out of jail free card.

    And thank you very much

With the +3 tomes and a starting Int of 11 i was shooting to build up some skill points as i now have Int and UMD both at 22 points. With a start of only 11 points thats only 3 true stat points (Tome +3 not factored in). I also picked up ComExp because.. uh... thought it would help out. Apparently not so much. Thank you

As to the Cleave not working with twf and the such, thank you again.
I am going to look more into sunder or stunning blow though as alternatives to cleave+

Now the taking of KotC 1 over HotD 1 i thought the end game was more devilish and not so undead? Am i wrong?

I also realized that i took paladin toughness instead of fighter toughness. I will probably swap that out as well since i am going primary fighter.

If i take off fighter str3 then my strength ends up at an odd number. I might as well take off level2 as well then right? I was shooting for as high of a str as possible.

There is a significant amount of devilry in end game and little undead; however, HotD isn't strictly about undead. At first tier you get 10% healing amp and automatic Ghost Touch, while KotC 1 gives you +1 attack and 1d6 damage against fiends. Healing amp is fun, not switching weapons is really fun, and 1d6 damage some of the time is really boring, so I like HotD 1 more.

I wouldn't worry too much about odd numbers. You never know what exceptional items / guild buffs / whatever you'll pick up. If you get to a steady state, it's not doing anything for you, and some other enhancement leaps out at you, then by all means.

Did you consider going 12 fighter/6 pally/2 monk or rogue? evasion would surely help the build, and youd even get an extra feat if you go monk, or some sneak damage and access to UMD if you go rogue. With 12 levels of fighter, you will still get all the goodies from Kensai II.
