Default Important suggestions to make healing easier

After playing numerous lives as FvS and Cleric, I have some suggestions to make healing a lot easier. Thereby there would be more healers, which in turn would help player retention because many newer players are afraid to do quests without a dedicated healer. These players are most likely lost because of their frustration waiting for lfms to fill.

    1) Make each person's dot on the mini map have a small number on it. The person that you select with F1 has a 1, F2 is 2, etc. This makes situations where you can't find the wounded person much easier. (I'm looking at you shroud part 2 and MA)

    2) If someone is dead, change their dots color. It realize this won't help color blind people, but it would help a large percentage of the player base.

    3) If a NPC joins the party and needs to be healed, give them their own bars on the party list. For example, Coyle should get his own bar somewhere, so I don't have to try to click on his body, but instead can just find his bar on the left where all the other party members are. Another example is the dogs in Hound. This raid is super easy to fail cause it is not always trivial to select the dogs cause of the mamma moving around and it's difficult to see which dog is in most need of heals. Id' rather have the dogs bar in the middle of the screen completely obstructing my view of what is going on than not be able to heal them.

    4) Make radiant burst work without selecting yourself. The way it works right now is ridiculous. THere have been numerous threads pointing this out. Developers have even claimed it was going to be fixed over 2 years ago. Just make it happen already.

    1) Not really necessary...people making themselves unable to get heals are easily found as soulstones. Could be useful for very rare occasions, but not really worth it just for that, I think.

    2) Like number 1, not overly necessary, but could be useful. Maybe I'm weird, but the mini-map is something I never use for healing...if someone is so far away that I have to use the mini-map, they're not getting heals anyways.

    3) Would be a nice addition for things like hound as you can see which dogs need healing, or in rare occasion if one dog is taking a lot of damage for some reason...usually, you have to assume all the dogs are about at the same health...and sometimes, that's wrong.

    4) This should be true...and on a related note, negative energy burst should work regardless of if you have an enemy selected, even if they're blocked (as it functions more similarly to the opposite of radiant burst than anything).

Overall, (outside of #4), this list isn't really necessary imo, but it could definitely help people out with healing. /signed

Just have it highlight the person's dot on the map when they are in your focus orb. The same way it highlights their dot when you click on their dot in the map...

Even if it utilized a completely separate "party" widget, that would be just fine for those areas where it's needed. I truly despise the "keep numbnutt alive against his wishes" quests.

Good, obvious suggestions all around, well done.

I fear the raid is intentionally designed as a HUD challenge, so this change in particular will never be approved. Luckily, most builds can easily get by without ever running such a dumb raid.

lol, so it's supposed to be hard because it's hard to select the dogs and see their health? wow. The sad thing is you might be right.

True. Making the healers life a little more enjoyable should be welcomed across the board.

    1) Make each person's dot on the mini map have a small number on it. The person that you select with F1 has a 1, F2 is 2, etc. This makes situations where you can't find the wounded person much easier. (I'm looking at you shroud part 2 and MA)
I don't use the minimap for healing, but that is because this feature isn't in the game. This would be a very useful tool.

Having some way to show range aura's on the minimap would be nice, too.

    2) If someone is dead, change their dots color. It realize this won't help color blind people, but it would help a large percentage of the player base.
This is another good idea to make the minimap more useful to healers. As for there being a problem for color blind people... it doesn't have to be at all. Color-blindness only affect certain comparative colors (i.e. red/green, blue/yellow) and doesn't affect contrast.

    3) If a NPC joins the party and needs to be healed, give them their own bars on the party list. For example, Coyle should get his own bar somewhere, so I don't have to try to click on his body, but instead can just find his bar on the left where all the other party members are. This would certainly get rid of this annoyance. Having a condition widget that healers (or anyone really) could add targets to would be pretty awesome.

    4) Make radiant burst work without selecting yourself. The way it works right now is ridiculous. THere have been numerous threads pointing this out. Developers have even claimed it was going to be fixed over 2 years ago. Just make it happen already.
    No brainer.

All of these are good ideas and I'd love to see them in the game.

Get better AC and DR and stand next to the melees. Add some HP to the build. Get a the gear that amps up your healing ability and gives you more SP.

While these ideas do indicate you have put some thought into the matter I will have to disagree with the NEED for most of them.

Idea 1. The small number on the dot. In theory this sounds great, but now in a Raid situation numbers 10 - 12 will take more space. If the numbers are made to fit within the dot, picking the color that best contrasts the dot for the user to be able to read may prove to be a challenge. While not completely convenient the Tool tip of the dot showing the name can be a way to get around this. However, If you are playing a character that can take on a Primary Healing Role for the Party and all of the dots are all over the place, you are most likely not needed to HEAL the party and thus need to tap into the other 2/3rds of your abilities.

Idea 2. Similar to idea 1. Generally most people when dead will stand still, look at the mini map, confirm this by checking the Tool tip.

Idea 3. The problem here is the limitations of what Hotkey to assign... In a 6 person quest F7-F12 is available, however in a Raid like HoX what keys should be used - Keeping in mind for access anything you can do with the mouse needs to be able to occur using the keyboard. Next in HoX, a primary healer needs to stay mobile avoiding moving to close or in front of Mother. Using basic deduction of which hound is taking the most damage, such as the one that is right in front of Mother, can help to quickly target the hound taking the most damage. Placing Mass healing on this hound will cover the others. Alternate is to use the Tank as the center - Advantage here is that a Mass Heal will not fail due to the timer running out on the puppy charm.

Idea 4. When/If they finally fix the targeting on all Spells/Spell-like abilities that are suppose to be centered on casters, I'm sure everyone will be happy about it.

I think you don't understand the complaint. The OP doesn't want the burst to go off on another person. The problem is that if you select another party member or enemy you can not use the burst, it says invalid target.

On my clonk I fight with the melees but I try not to target anything so I can burst heal. It's like the old LoH problem but worse.
