    Default Barb or Fighter?

I plan to TR my barb very soon.
I was wondering which is more raid dps, pure barb or pure fighter?
I have all the endgame gear for him, he would be using esos and all that good stuff.....
    thanks!

I am also quite curious to see this, as well as the math for it...

Last time I read a post by people who had done the calculations, while the fighters have access to haste boost they are ahead, but once these run out the barb will eventually over-take them in average DPS. But it has usually been so close (and subject to change) that it might be simplest to just to pick the class you like the most. That and barbarians are usually better for THF and fighters for TWF might also be a factor, depending on your available gear and personal preferences.

for dps I would say kensai III with the esos would be pretty hard to beat.

    fighter gives the action boosts

kensai gives you extra actions and 15-20 crit range with esos x 3 multiplier plus power surge.

you should have enough clickies that you will not run out of them usually between shrines.

The barbarian crits on 15-20 while kensai goes on a 14-20. HOWEVER, on a roll of 19-20, the barbarian crits at a x5 multiplier. The fighter crits more often due to his haste boosts and slightly better threat range, but the barbarian has those high damage critical hits. Add in a barbarian damage boost, and he's gonna be putting out massive damage.

yes, both massive damage and tier one melee dps choices. barb can hit bigger crits but less frequently, fighter gets more crits.

I say choose whatever one you like. both are great

I don't know the calculations or haven't seen them; however I know my first life dwarf barbarian has a constant 66 str and I use eSoS and I land 1300 pt crits at a descent clip, I never knew kensai fighter did that.

Though with Horc and the THF Orc line, while orcs can maintain around 80 str pretty easily I'd like to see some calculations.

Also it's stupid that a class can out DPS barb I mean that's really all barbs are/good for. I say you really can't go wrong either way if you have gear tho.

In terms of raw DPS, indistinguishable.

With that said, being a pure fighter rather than pure barb makes it much easier to pick up things like Improved Sunder, which can make a big difference in party-wide raid DPS, or Stunning Blow, or Sap, or...

    Why not both?

    Think BAR18/FTR2?

You get toughness, G2HF, IC slash, Power Attack,, Stunning blow and improved sunder.

At lvl22 out of 25 you get capstone... in theory.

I once saw charts apon charts comparing this build and that build. This class and that class. 2handed to 2 weapon.

Know what the difference between them was? Maye a few points here and there. When it comes down to it unless you really, REALLY just divebomb the build, it will only be a loss or gain of a few points here and there.

Now the real achievement is getting to hit high as the sky, and not needing the healer or worse the hire to babysit you. So of course self healing makes the leveling process and even end game just that grand.

Now you could umd it using a couple rogue levels getting evasion in the process, or could even helf it with cleric dili.

Then again tactics play a roll to. For instance the 1k hp barb swinging like a maniac dmg flying everywhere. But he's also dropping to, 100 200 400hp. Now take say a monk specced for stuns, trips whatever. None of that stuff is hitting back. The healer can even help in nuking or hacking em down.

I'd prolly go horc 18 fighter 2 rog. I'm assuming with those lives you already have your gs clickies and whatnot waiting. So umding shouldn't be to hard. For race could go horc, or human for versatility, though when racials come out i'd prolly go dwarf or human for stelward while having kensai 3.
