Talking Mayan end of the world 21 Dec 2012, can I blame Turbine?

I was just wondering if we will see Druids and an enhancement line after we all die?

If we don't can I blame Turbine?

Will the stairway to Heaven have the dreaded ladder bug? If it does, can I blame Turbine?

Will St. Peter let me through the Epic gates if I am gimped? If not, can I blame Turbine?

Will my wings have a finished PRE? If not, can I blame Turbine?

If it turns out that the Mayans were actually Drow working for Lolth, can I get a refund from Turbine?

If I get sent to the abyss of Hell, will I be able to hold aggro on the devil while my guildmates try to escape? If not, can I blame Turbine because my intimidate skill was broke?

Just kidding. It's not really the end of the world and you know it.........

    Newsflash!

    Mayan Calendar theories debunked!

New evidence indicates that the so-called Calendar is just an ancient countdown timer for the Cinematic release of "The Hobbit"!

So hilarious how this whole maya calander thing has been blown way out of proportions. Even if the mayan calander was supposed to predict massive extinctions, it wasn't very successful. The last cycle end was in what? 700 BC or something? Did humans go extinct then? Furthermore, the mayan civilization actually saw some rather cataclysmic changes right in the middle of a cycle, not at the end or even near the end.

I am pretty sure that Hell is due to freeze over on June 25th, and we do have Turbine to thank/blame for that.

er hate to burst your bubble you are quite correct about the end of the last cycle BUT in the mayan calander the current cycle we are in ( cycle 13 ) is the last recorded cycle.
the start of cycle 1 was around 5000 bc ( long before the mayans were around)

but there is plenty of opinion out there that the end of cycle 13 will result in the begining of cycle 1 (as everything goes full circle)

The Mayan calendar is not very successful in predicting massive extinctions in the first place because it is not supposed to predict massive extinctions, but an instrument to measure time. Similar how our calendar is not supposed to predict these things but spawned whole generations of "prophets" who predicted the end of the world using our calendar to put a date to those alleged cataclysmic events. Ie:

    * Joseph Smith (founder of the Church of Latter Day Saints) was misinterpreted as claiming the world will end in 1891.
    * William Miller (a 19th century lay Baptist preacher) claimed vehemently that the Day of Judgment could be divined from a literal interpretation of the Holy Bible and fell somewhere between March 21, 1843, and March 21, 1844. Then recanted and put a new date out there as April 23, 1843
    * Nostradamus prediction (the year 1999, seventh month ... from the sky will come great king of terror) spawned a litany of year 2K end-of-the-world predictions
    * Harold Camping (civil engineer and California preacher) is the founder and head of a religious-based radio station that convinced a large group of people the world would end in 1994. This didn’t happen. Camping claimed he'd made a mathematical error in his mystical calculations, and came up with a new Judgment Day of May, 21, 2011
    * Ronald Weinland (a minister of God’s Church) wrote a book in 2006 named 2008: God's Final Witness which claimed hundreds of millions of people would die, and by the end of 2006 there would only be two years remaining before the End Times. He also predicted by 2008 the US would no longer be a world power nor would it be an independent nation.

I could go on, but these are some examples who use our (Roman) calendar to make some wild predictions, usually by someone either misinterpreting some data/text or deliberately misconstruing it to make profit out of peoples fears.

Similar happened with the Mayan calendars. They were extremely accurate (and also complex) in their methods. They had three different measurements, all in terms of days, for their "years" depending upon what they meant to measuring. One version of their year was 365 days divided into 18 months of 20 days each (with 5 days to be distributed). Another "year" was 360 days which they used for their "very long" count of time. Finally they had a "sacred" year consisting of 260 days. The calendar we are worried about December 21, 2012, is the "long" version of Mayan timekeeping and the distress comes from it nearing the end of its cycle.

So, in other words the Mayan calendar does not predict Armageddon. It merely predicts that it is time to buy a new (Mayan) calendar.

The important question is will the world end before we see the enhancement pass?

"Hey guys, what the **** is this ****, everything is broken all the time, what the hell is wrong with Turbine?"

    Then the sheep respond:

    -Quit being so entitled.
-Whining about it doesn't help. You should remain calm and quiet while continuing to pay. That will show them you want the game to be free of bugs.
-You can't into programming. Solving xyz bug takes INSANE amount of PROFESSIONAL work. You cannot blame Turbine for breaking something every update because it's impossible not to.
-You aren't a programmer. Game developers are smarter than scientists, and you have no idea how making games works. You think they're just sitting around their offices simply neglecting all the game's problems? You're so ignorant!
-MMO games are totally different than the project you worked on in your free time. There is no connection between the two.
-LOL let's blame Turbine for everything now, right you little baby? LOL I bet they're even responsible for the Mayan calendar loloololohurrdurrrrrrr

Hence the if. I suppose I should have bolded that. Even if the Maya calander was supposed to predict extinctions it hasn't been very successful.

If the world was based on the Gregorian calendar, it would've ended in 7 years

The world isn't ending. It's just a TR, because Venus has better Chr DC's, and Mars rocks Intim and Improved Sunder, even against bosses.

All our stuff'll still be in the cache.
