I'm such a newb, never thought of using a shard to drop Lucid Dreams to ml 17! Thanks for the tip.

.... seriously? Do you know just how much stuff is in the compendium that is NOT in game? Do we need to create a huge list of this stuff now to get it removed?

    Sorry to refute the DooooOOooom.
There is no reason a Level 25 Cap should affect Crafting ML.

But it should affect how the true ML of a weapon affects players.

We were warned when we could craft weapons that truly exceeded our level 20 cap (like +5 HB of GB weapons) that if the level cap increased, the weapons would, too.

So, yes, a Shard of Masterful Craftsmanship II would be in order to help deflect some of the inevitable rage that will follow.

That said, *if* a Masterful Craftsmanship II Shard requires a new high Cannith favor item it will be out of the reach of most people anyway (like unlocking Arti.) And I have to admit that I've never seen a Cannith Mark drop so I wouldn't be delusional enough to think I'd ever see something even more rare drop.

Hopefully, they get the Shard of MC II right (maybe give us something more to do with Purified Eberron Dragonshard fragments from deconned Tomes instead of introducing a new favor mark.)

I've had about 7 cannith marks drop. Maybe it's just luck.

I've never understood why that didn't happen when you got level drained - you have this uber GS item that specifically states Min Level 12. You've Tred and finally reached lvl12, wandered into the first dungeon to play with the new toy and you then get hit for 4 lvls of energy drain, you shouldn't be able to use the thing until you have recovered sufficient levels... If its armour, you have to change it to move!

Because in the D20 system a negative level and actually losing a level are 2 different things.

-1 on all skill checks and ability checks.
-1 on attack rolls and saving throws.
    -5 hit points.
-1 effective level (whenever the creature’s level is used in a die roll or calculation, reduce it by one for each negative level).
If the victim casts spells, she loses access to one spell as if she had cast her highest-level, currently available spell. (If she has more than one spell at her highest level, she chooses which she loses.) In addition, when she next prepares spells or regains spell slots, she gets one less spell slot at her highest spell level.

Negative levels remain until 24 hours have passed or until they are removed with a spell, such as restoration. If a negative level is not removed before 24 hours have passed, the affected creature must attempt a Fortitude save (DC 10 + ½ draining creature’s racial HD + draining creature’s Cha modifier; the exact DC is given in the creature’s descriptive text). On a success, the negative level goes away with no harm to the creature. On a failure, the negative level goes away, but the creature’s level is also reduced by one. A separate saving throw is required for each negative level.

A character with negative levels at least equal to her current level, or drained below 1st level, is instantly slain. Depending on the creature that killed her, she may rise the next night as a monster of that kind. If not, she rises as a wight.
A negative level isn't actually level loss in D&D - though in PnP it has a chance of becoming real level loss. Instead, a negative level just gives you flat penalties (which are still quite severe). Since there's no real level loss, your real level is unaffected. This causes gear to still function properly, even if you have negative levels that would put you below the ML of items if negative levels were real level loss. However, if your number of negative levels equals your hit die or levels, it instantly kills you.

This aside, I really want Masterful Craftsmanship 2...MORE TWINK!
