Default Doggies don't follow you - they get lost

I have a baby toon - level 1 - so I figure why not do a quick run of Home Sweet Sewer as it is easy and something a gimpy level 1 can't fowl up and I like getting chased by dogs

but... the doggies got lost - usually all you have to do is run up to each dog, get their attention - hot foot it back to the entrance and collect xp... but this time I got to the end and there were 3 dogs missing. So I ran back, found two at the first curve and another stuck at the 3way split. They were sort of turning in circles as if they couldn't figure out where i went. After they saw me, I managed to get two to follow me back - stopping every so often so they kept me in sight. I had to go back for the last one that was still stuck on the left arm of the 3way split. This time I slowed down a bit more so he didn't lose sight of me. I finally got to the entrance (down to 4 out of 31 hp) and he left - and I got the dismal 200ish xp (ug I didn't realize it was THAT bad of xp)

    (and yes I bug posted)

The dogs in that sewer do seem to be more sensitive to fast moving characters. I did a run with expeditious retreat running and one traveling normally.

On the speed run I had three dogs give up and go back to their spawn point.

On the slow run I had one dog give up and go back to the spawn point. I cast invisibility and watched the dogs in that corner and it seems to crowd pathing and bounding box size of the dogs was making the bend impassible for some of the dogs when you have them all at once.

Edit to clarify: Looks like the bounding box on the dogs has grown. You could fit a couple of dogs in the space where they bounce off each other. And that is why I think the crowd pathing is bugged.

In my case, it was a level 1 wizard with only the intro quest gear on (i keep planning on running her but my tr has higher priority). I didn't use expedeous retreat (cause I was too lazy to swap spells and that wasn't on that I set) but I did have all dogs trailing me. They also didn't really go back to their spawn point but were at the start of a turn in the hallway

I'm guessing they dumped their intelligence and dexterity.
Maybe they should go back to training school or something!!

Or maybe they've been hanging around with those no-account Artificer pups too much.
Those slackers are just a bad behavioral example.

(I don't think is is a bug per-se. Just walking back to them will bring em running again. Ok, so they aren't perfect, but they DO work for the most part.)

I keep seeing posts like this I it really surprises me. Except when I took alignment enhancements my dog has been solid all the way to the top. My dog is mostly spec'd for defense with threat reduction and evasion. Works great.

Mine has been as well, but there have been a couple of times he has gone 'brain dead' and stopped attacking. I have a Fleshmaker's Docent on him (Disintegration Guard) so it isn't a huge deal, but he still goes BD after climbing too many ladders.
