    Default scroll farm methods

    Hi all,

my wiz is now strong enough to start scroll farming, I remember two scroll farming methods (chrono and DQ1) but would like to learn how to scroll farm in sentinels and red fens. Are there preferred quests/methods for these 2 packs?

    thanks in advance!

Sentinels: Clean up the entrance archers in Tide Turns over and over again. You could also clean up the trash in Bargain of Blood, but the drow in there make it more annoying unless you have high burst damage. Killing the skellies with Firewalls in Spies also works, but may be slower than Tide Turns. Halt Undead doesn't work effectively in Spies or Black Loch.

Fens: Clean up almost to the end of Fathom. The trash in Claw works too, but the scorps have higher saves than the fishies. The water part of the Deeps can also be effective if you are lightning spec'ed (and Web actually works underwater).

VoN: Pick up Halt Undead and clean up the undead in VoN5; or clean as far as you can in VoN1.

In fens if u have torc and conc opp, good necro DC and can survive 7+ epic mobs hitting you.... the last stand is way to go.

Symbol of death + Mind fog or any debuff u use (Crushing Despair Etc - when mobs are around u), Grab agro, run 3=4 times though symbol and in those debuffs cast wail of banshee/circle of death.
Really sweet thing when using 200-300 sp u kill 7+ epic mobs.

Persistant AOE (Ice Storm, Acid Fog, etc) and hiding around the corner to take out the first group in The Tide Turns, rinse, repeat.

Bargain of Blood, keep going as far as you can (web + ice storm works well on drow). You can go all the way to the boss if you like, and there is a shrine halfway. Stand on the lever platform and DoT the First Mate just after the shrine. Don't move forward too fast, draw as few as you can at once (there are a bunch of mobs hiding) and take them out.

I like using Undeath to Death + Web for the zombies in VoN5. You can run them through firewalls, but that takes forever. Dance + Solid Fog + Crushing Despair + Circle of Death for the Warforged (they have fairly high fort saves and can't get neg levels). I go west first, clear that first room, then east all the way to the puzzle room.

Wiz-king, run to the shrine on the right, getting as much aggro as you can manage, then jump up on the rocks. Keep your back to the wall and AOE the mobs as they come, moving to the edge to recast, then moving back. Watch out for Hamstrings.

All the Carnival quests are really easy to farm, too, and can be good practice for the tougher ones.

Thanks all, will try some of these... although tides and ebob are the ones I usually complete in a group, and im always on timer on DQ since I still need a torc...

Any good method to avoid trips in carnivals? Usually getting tripped in solo epics means death...

Maybe it shouldn't have been, but given that they've only made solo arcane scroll farming easier with each update one has to assume that it's considered WAI.

Tide for D is pretty standard, A good source told me that the eDeeps mob outside in the water are an easy farm.

Be no difference than that of eDQ1 and eWizKing farms. Likewise, eLords of Dust is a very simple scroll farm for the new chain too...

don't waste any time farming. just play, have fun and use what you get as you go along.

pointless to invest any time into such things as the devs will eventually just give away the hardest pulls anyways...or put them up for sale in the DDO store.

In reasonable doses scroll farming can be plenty of fun. What's boring is waiting around for an easy button.

Then they shouldn't have made scroll drops so obscenely rare. 500+ kills between scroll drops is so common that I expect it.

Sari knows farming, but mostly plays a cleric AFAIK. If you're an arcane with even a middling necro DC, just Undeath to Death the early trash in Black Loch and eVON5. Very quick kills and a lot of them, best farming for Deneith and VON IMO. The cooldown is a bit painful (30 sec like Circle of Death) but you can nuke in between casts.

General tip; since you are alone, pop a bard hireling that has the +1 dc song for efficiency (do it before lich form)

Hate farming undead on my pm. UtD has a max of like 5 kills per cast ( edit: wiki doesn't say anything about this, still think I'm right though, anyone confirm?) and nuking is so slow (even halted).

Stacking several (different) aoe's might be an idea though. hmm...

epic small problem - run until 15-20 wolves and panthers are gathered up and put up a disco ball and a web for any who save. You don't have to worry too much about trips because 95% of them will be CC'd and you can wail, FoD or nuke them until all are dead. If you're really worried about trips then just go striaght to the water shrine and CC them there. If you get tripped and die it's no big deal just rez and try again.

Round them all up. Web or Halt Undead. Undeath to Death + Acid Rain + Ice Storm + Undeath to Death, etc...

I had a Sorc, and after this annoying TR train is over, will have the Sorc back. With good Necro DC's on a Wizard or Cleric, you're right that Black Loch is probably best once you get past the group of non-undead. Without good Necro DC's, I'd probably still recommend the first part of Tide Turns since you can cast an AoE then hide, while the dumb archers just sit in it.

Since I was on a Sorc, I couldn't fit in Undead to Death, and instead had to depend on my damage spells and SLA's more. Halt Undead scrolls were great for VoN5 because the zombies are mindless. The scrolls work on them (3 affected per cast), with no fail, lasted a minute and a half, and gave a damage boost post u9.

Exactly. The devs created this monster when:

    1. The drop rates were set so explicitly bad. This was most apparent for the Desert Raid scrolls, which are approximately 25 times rarer than any other scrolls in the desert. Scrolls are tradeable, which helps, but it's still a flawed system.
    2. The drop rate is the same regardless of the number of people in the party, so there is a disincentive to try to get scrolls in a group.
    3. The u9 spell changes gave casters (both types, but Arcanes more) a huge boost in the ability to farm scrolls solo.
