Reasons NOT to make a Mystical Alchemical Shield?

chances are he's a Water Savant, and thus Meteor Swarm is likely not on his spell list.

Why? Meteor Swarm is not affected by the -fire penalty a water savant takes.

Polar Ray is great...until you run into something immune to cold. Nothing is immune to rocks being smashed into their face.

I had meteor swarm for a fair while on this premise but without (many) fire or force enhancements it is pretty lacklustre.

Cold/Acid/Lightning spec covers every raid without ever needing meteor swarm (I guess the construct in von5 will give me pause but only run that on normal - then my spells are awesome fun for it!).

I like the small alchemical shield cause it looks either like a pot lid or a fancy plate. Pretty.
