The House Cannith Challenge Daily Free Tokens change daily at 00:01 UTC (Currently 8:01 PM Eastern Daylight Time which is UTC -4, will switch back to 7:01 PM Eastern Standard Time in November when Daylight Saving Time turns off).
After the switch each day, the first of your characters on that server to talk to Kariya in House Cannith will get 5 tokens if you are VIP or Premium Free to Play or 3 tokens if you are pure Free to Play. After that first character, all other characters on your account on that server that talk to Kariya will get 1 token for that day's Challenge.
There are 12 different Challenge Tokens (the Epic versions of the Challenges use the same tokens as the non-Epic versions). The Tokens can be used by F2P players to enter a challenge, or by any player to unlock a Supply Vault inside of a Challenge for some buffs. Tokens are consumed when you enter the challenge or open the vault, and are not returned if you fail the challenge.
The 12 types of Challenge Tokens are cycled-through every 12 days, and the order within each 12 days varies (and is predictable).
There are 10 sets of these 12-day cycles before the whole list repeats. So, if you want a particular Challenge, you won't ever need to wait more than 22 days for it to come up again (and only 12 days on average).

This needs a sticky. Useful information for both new and veteran players, beneficial to both those that own and don't own the pack, and just plain convenient since Kariya doesn't let you know which token is up before you grab them.

I haven't checked the accuracy of the data, but the analysis of the system is correct.There are 10 sets of these 12-day cycles before the whole list repeats. So, if you want a particular Challenge, you won't ever need to wait more than 22 days for it to come up again (and only 12 days on average).

Everyone please note that this is mostly the work of wayreth602 and DocBenway for tracking what challenge was given out each day and Destroyer_Omega for noticing when it started looping after 120 days.

Thanks for the work by everyone to decode this!
One small comment - I know 'server time' by convention is EST, and DocBenway always used this notation e.g.
for when the challenge for UTC+00 2012/03/23 was Disruptor, but since the challenges start at UTC+00 and so it would make more sense to put the challenges to the UTC date i.e. one day later than shown here? Otherwise it can be confusing for those in different timezones. Originally Posted by DocBenway

Dumb question: Is there a list somewhere of exactly what the tokens give you if you turn them in during a challenge? I know the generic answer: stuff that helps.
I was kinda looking for a more specific answer.

I haven't seen an exhaustive list yet, but basically they give you ~4 random buff orbs (the same ones you can get from breakables in the mansion challenges). Walking into the orbs give you 1-minute buffs like super jump, quad damage, hate magnet, 1 minute of time, etc. Originally Posted by Bork_Com

Devs, getting info like this to the community increases the engagement of casual players - we'll actually schedule time for DDO.
You should seriously consider making things like drop rates and proc chances public too, power gamers are more likely to have this info via word of mouth, making it available to all would level the field. A more transparent DDO is a less frustrating DDO. Originally Posted by Chai

Nice thread, I didn't know that tokens could be used for EPIC and non-EPIC. I had thought I had to wait for the EPIC version to roll through, no wonder it never seemed to come.
