Characters turning left non-stop

I posted this problem a few days ago, and it just happened again while I am on the airship 'buffing'. I tried hitting other movement and jump keys (which I had tried before); using Alt-Tab key (which only brought up her rune arm), the screen would NOT Maximize, as one player suggested since I play in Minimized screen, and unplugging/replugging in my game pad did not help either. I am still SPINNING LEFT as I write this - fifteen minutes later. I am going to exit the game and come back in. This gets expensive as I play alone with Gold hirelings, and often have been losing them if I am in a long game!

I've had this happen some of the other movement keys before, typically from a spout of lag or swapping windows or something. In this case I would try holding down the right mouse key to stop the spinning and then switch windows while still holding that button.

I've had this happen a few times.. and yes, generally hitting left again stops it. Or shield block....

Try bringing up the help menu and hit bug report. This works every time for me. For some reason just hitting bug report stops the spinning. Then just close the window. no need to submit a bug report.

This happens to me too. Try control + one of the movement keys. Or alt + movement keys.

This happens to me once in a while, and finally I happened upon the solution.

Just do control-alt-delete and hit cancel... this resolves the problem on my computer. Quite frankly, control-alt-delete followed by cancel fixes many things.

I assume you run in windowed mode. This happens to me also. Hitting and releasing the key corresponding to the direction you are turning will fix it. Its also easily reproducible:

In windowed mode:
1) press and hold a direction key
2) click and hold the mouse on the edge of the window (title bar works)
3) release key
4) release mouse button

I've had this happen from time to time, typically when accidentally clicking on the edge of the window and inadvertently re-sizing the DDO client window - while controlling my character. (windowed mode)


What I end up doing to fix it is to literally mash a bunch of keys on the keyboard repeatedly for a few seconds. No specific keys, just as many as my hands can pretend to play piano with while attempting to fix it. I really must look stupid doing that to anyone walking past my desk, now that I think of it.


In any case, it works for me. I don't have the patience to tap each key to see if it stops as the spinning makes me nauseous pretty fast.
