Actually, you can. Hit <ENTER>/p blah blah blah<ENTER> <-- the /p just ensures that no matter which chat window you have up, it will go to the party chat. If you have your party chat window up, its obviously not needed.

Even though you cant see your UI, you actually CAN interact with it, including using some hotkeys to change wpns, open/close UI windows, etc. The downside is that you cant actually SEE what you are typing, so if you typo or dont hit the enter key first or whatever, you can get some --- interesting -- results. But you CAN type while stuck in a loading screen. You can also use voice chat.

There is no need to hit enter first. Just pressing / activates the text window. Sure it might only save you a 1/10 of a second, but some of us are really lazy

I'd say you're in the wrong. There's no standing expectation that everyone will wait outside Stand Your Ground for the party to gather up, so everyone can go into it together. Once you pop into that quest, it starts. They popped in, nobody else was around, and they needed to get to work or else it would fail. They had every expectation that you would be popping in in a reasonable amount of time. It's not like he zerged to the end of the quest. Don't pretend he did. You *can't* zerg to the end of this quest, and the entire fight takes place in the room you enter. You don't need to put "no zerging" in the LFM for Stand Your Ground, since it is *impossible* to zerg that quest anyway.

Folks commenting in this thread need to remember that we're talking about Stand Your Ground here. There's a huge difference between completing 99% of A Cry for Help before your party pops in, and completing 99% of Stand Your Ground before the rest of your party pops in. That difference is very relevant to this discussion.

Hmm yes and no. Unless specified otherwise I would probably be a lot more likely to complete 99% of cry for help
before people get in then of stand your ground. Mainly because I can wait at end of cry for help but once you
start stand your ground you will have to do some very annoying kiting to not finish in give or take 4 minutes.

Anyhow the OP's post is essentially why I almost never join Pugs anymore. I always put up lfms when running
things but I don't join them as a rule because people are very bad at expressing what they want and at getting
to the quest in a timely manner. It might be rude to zerg a quest before people get there but it's at least equally
rude to let people wait 10-20 minutes to run a quest they could have soloed in 4. And to the obligatory "So why
don't you go solo it then?" I do. 9/10 times I put IP lfms up and just solo it, but I do like running with other
players and getting to meet new players I just don't like spending 15 minutes standing outside the
quest entrance while people go get a new haircut or wait for that elusive healer that will hardly be able to heal
them any more then the csw pots I always offer to provide will.
    Just my 2 cents,
    Rawel

OP its fair game (in a smirky sort of way) especially with people who have run the quest many times... usually they are just tryin to get the most done in the shortest amount of time possible. As someone who actually enjoys taking new players in quests.. if I'm with other experienced players I actually get a kick out of throwing them a fast one and entering and starting the quest maybe when they thought we'd be waiting. I don't wait for anyone... I'll say right up front.. buffing and goin in.... I don't have any interest in waiting for your nanny/babysitter or for your computer to finish loading. And at the same time I tell eveyrone up front to NEVER wait for me under any circumstances. If I DC or something ... you have my express orders to continue on soldier... Never wait or be courteous on my account.. its a game.. play it to have fun.. not to stop and wait every time someone has to go to the rest room or take a phone call. Now if I knew that it was your friends first time and wanted to actually experience that quest and that you werent all that interested in the xp, I would have either waited or left group and ran it alone.

I completely understand that you missed the quest and actually wanted to experience the quest and really weren't all that interested in just 'getting the xp'. Many of the people who play DDO have a hard time with this concept or they act like they do to avoid having to wait for anyone.

As others have said state it clearly up front 'teamwork, going slow'. There are plenty of people these days who want to play that way and I'm sure you'll have an easier time in the future.

When it comes to this, I say it depends.

Someone that zergs leaving mobs gourped up and behind with DA is extremely rude to do so without previous consent or waiting for the rest of the party to come in to zerg with them. I've had times where I go into a quest that has a starting point spawn where a zerger left all the mobs there. Getting hit before loading, no buffs, and a DA? GG.

Now if someone is self-sufficient and starts immediately killing everything on the way... that hurts you and the party in no way whatsoever, is not zerging, and actually helps make it go quicker. If you were actually wanting to go slow, then you should spell it out.

You should NOT have to spell out no-zerg. People in the party should respect that if they go ahead, they have to consider the people behind. You either clear it, or have permission from them that they have it in hand. You DO have to spell out "go slow". If my character can solo the quest, killing everything, why should I have to wait for you unless you ask me too?

Just sayin I disagree... as someone who is used to putting up LFM's that say IP and then people join usually right after I start.. or joining other like minded groups, I have to say that it is painfully awkward when your going 170 mph and you happen to land in one of these groups who are going like 5 mph. Goin along... everything great... did like 5 quests on elite in the last hour.. you see an LFM for something you were about to do ... cool I'll hit it... Suddenly you realize that the world suddenly stops... You buff and head to the quest... and you realize that no one is doing anything..... you check people's locations.. they are standing on some ship somewhere or waiting outside the quest... You say "uh... ok I guess I'm goin in .. mind if I start?" And you get these blank looks... "Like this?" " No healer?" And amazingly these people have no problem waiting and waiting and waiting... they will wait like 30 minutes for a group to fill.. its utterly astonishing.

So moral to the story is ... IMO state up front what speed your going at... because many long time players might unknowingly hit your lFM and have like an implosion trying to slow down from how fast they were going to the complete lack of movement that your group is going at.

    fixed

most people aren't joining groups to find themselves under someones direct authority. as long as there is someone else in thr group they'll have some say as to how the quest goes, not by rule but by the facts of the matter. you're feeling that a ficticious unspoken rule was broken because you had a star on your name. do you have some athority over the way the quest would be run? sure, but if it's like you said and you were in long load until complete... no one could be expected to wait as long as it would take to do the quest on their own with full scaling the whole time.

The first player you describe is a moron, not a zerger. a REAL zerger would be killing the stuff that is important (IE: stuff that, when left behind, will cause DA and death to others).

And yes, you should specify no-zerg if that is what you want. The same applies to ANY playstyle you dont want in your group, especially if you know it is a popular playstyle. if you dotn have enough room in your LFM notes for all the things you dont like, then you should be telling ppl as they join, rather than assuming they can read your mind any more than you can read theirs. By the same token, players joining should also be "clearing" any of their own personal playstyles that they know may cause friction with others.

The fact is that it seldom happens either way, other than a couple of cursory comments in the LFM. The fault on it is not one-sided. It takes no more effort for the PL to say "no zerging pls" than it does for the joiner to say "mind if i zerg?" Neither of these players really WANTS to play with the other, but both are too lazy/stubborn to put forth the minimal effort to rectify it.

Just an FYI, when you are stuck in a loading screen, hit enter or "/" or whatever you do normally to start typing in a text box and type "/logout". The loading screen will go away, and a logout confirmation box will pop up. You can then hit "No" and be able to see and interact with your normal screen. You won't be able to move your character until you finish loading, but you'll be able to use the chat windows for normal communications.

If you stay in the game, you may also lose all game sound until you either DO log out and back in, or zone into another area (any time you get another load screen -- such as entering/exiting a quest, going in or out of a tavern/airship, entering a different section of Stormreach, etc.).

I've never had that happen to me, and I do this every time I get a long load screen. I've only gotten stuck before the actual load occurs though, so perhaps when I finally load, it counts as zoning into another area.

So he put up the LFM but you had the star? Why didn't you post the LFM? I'm not really too surprised that the person who put up the LFM decided when to start the quest even if someone else had the star.

Sounds like a case of too many Chiefs and not enough soup.

No...they had their own lfm up, OP /tell "Hey we're doing this why not join us?", they did. Not their LFM anymore. They accepted an invite to the OP's group.
