Default Greensteeling a Pally (and a rogue and a fighter and a...)

My second life monk has once again started farming the Shroud. I'm preparing for his next life (Pally) and trying to think ahead too. His first life was barbarian, so he already has a good selection of two-handed weapons for levelling (about the only decent one missing is SOS). If I go TWF for pally though, am I right in that I'll need 2 x Lit 2 khopeshes and 2 x Min 2 Khopeshes, or are there decent alternatives to green steel for boss-beating or trash thumping?

I could go THF for the pally and take a (hopefully small) hit to DPS, but the rogue life won't go well if he's only weilding a big stick...

Am I going to have to farm every vale quest about eight times each just for ingredients for blanks, or are there decent alternatives?

    Thanks for your advice

With crafting there are a plethora of boss beaters you can buy even if you can't craft them yourself. Often they provide better dps than a min II so you actually should save the mats. In fact I think one lit II is good enough. You can use situational beaters in the off hand (for example improved destruction if you're up against something with a particularly high AC)

Not to mention for your Pally life, your holy sword will be as good a boss beater as anything else....

D'oh - thanks guys. I've even got a semi-decent crafter, but never thought of using him for boss beaters. Getting one Lit 2 will certainly be easier than getting 4 khopshes - I've already got all the ingredients I need for that.

For leveling, I would consider a radiance 2 weapon...at cap, cannith crafting and challenges offer much cheaper alternatives.

I crafted minII holy/acid burst/+4 ac staff for lvling purposes for my rogue. Qstaff is nice, cause it works for any class. I like nice ac while lvling. Did already monk and pally life with very little trouble.

Just go THF and use those 3 feats for Quicken/Max/Extend. Easy.

Take all the lines of Knight of the Chalice Pre, and you will effectively have a crafted +5 holy burst khopesh of Greater Evil Outsider bane (and warhammer for Abbot/liches), and at minimal cost to yourself.

As far as min2 is concerned, most raid parties tend to bring an artificer now because their spells can turn lit2 weapons into boss beaters. Mineral 2 was commonly built in a time when artificers/cannith-crafting wasn't around, but now that both are here, min2 weapons are generally seen as a waste of time and resources.

    Things to consider for weapons:
    1. Will you want to do khopesh for your future lives as well or should you do scimitar for future lives that won't fit khopesh into the feat list?
    2. One radiance for main hand is helpful if you want blinded mobs (CC and sneak attack).
    3. Lit II is always awesome.
    4. Trip Pos bludgeon is nice for undead.
    5. You can fill your inventory space with holy swords right before you TR and they will go to your TR bank. You can pull them out when you need them for your next life. They now have a ML of 10.

GS equipment is easier to decide on.
    1. Con. Opps. can be your HP and wisdom item for any class.
    2. Lightning Strike is nice for Charisma skills, good for UMD on all builds and intimidate for your tank lives.
    3. Rad. Gaurd gives you one less to charisma skills but the blindness is helpful.

Holy swords are good enough really for almost everything if your planning on rerolling once you hit 20.

Thanks everyone - a lot to think about.

I think I'll plan on khopeshes for TWF melee toons - they're nice weapons and I can always go human or splash fighter if I need to squeeze out the odd extra feat.

I'd already planned on a con-op cloak (to keep tharnes available for the goggles), but I didn't think of radiant guard for the first tier - that is worth thinking about.

I have another toon who is a rogue - I think I'd be too irritated always chasing down the blinded mobs to be really happy with a radiant weapon on a non-rogue. I'll probably stockpile a few shards of power etc. before I TR anyway, so I can always craft something quick if I need to.

Holy swords in the bank sound cool - I just need to remember to use them :-)

    Thanks again everyone.
