Does your friend have HEs & artificers? If so, perhaps he could do barb 12 / ftr 6 / arty 2. Start w/rgr dilly, swap for rogue after getting Bow STR. Feats: PBS, WF:R, WS:R, Bow STR, Rapid Shot, Manyshot, IC Ranged, Prec Shot, IPS, PA, Cleave.

Note: the builder doesn't currently acknowledge that Energy of Creation I meets AA pre-req, but I have confirmed it in game; so I had to "fake" out the builder. I backloaded WS:Ranged so I could fit in IPS by lvl 12 & Cleave by lvl 15, but that means delaying Kensai I until lvl 18. So another option would be to take WS:R at lvl 5, Prec Shot at lvl 12, IPS at lvl 15, and Cleave at lvl 18; but that would mean delaying IPS & FB I 3 lvls. Or push IC Ranged back several levels; but that's a decent chunk of ranged DPS right there, esp. if you've got a Silver Longbow and/or Bow of Sinew. I can't think of a way to rearrange feats so you can get everything as early as I would like.
EDIT: I didn't spend skill pts; but UMD is the only one I would care about. On a 34-pt build, you could start STR 18 CON 13 and use enhs to even out CON.
