Default LFM list - Not flagged for quest.

Came up with a small idea when reading another post. Would be a great addition to newer players and people posting LFMs if they added a small warning if you arent flagged for the quest posted. Maybe something like the icon you get if you havent bought the content in question. This would ofc only be for quests you can not run if you arent flagged, and not for quests like shadowcrypt.

A good idea but you didn't go far enough.

Any quest that you can't enter for any reason (specifically including all timers!) should show up like the ones that you aren't the right level for, or completely omitted via checkbox. You should not be allowed to attempt to join such a group--mouseover would produce a floating message as to why you weren't eligible, a click would get a dialog box with the same text.

    It's a good idea.... but...

it kinda goes back to the /share please problem; people just do not know what they shoul dabout getting quests.

They don't know where to get them.
They don't know about the chains.
They don't know what needs flaging and how they are suppose to get flagged.
They don't know that they have this nice quest log that shows them if they can enter a quest are not. Or an advewnture compendium that shows if something is in progross or not, and who the quest giver is. (granted it is not perfect)

Most people do not have tons of alts like I do. But even with as many toons as I have, I know how to tell if I am flagged or not.

one simple trick is to simply go up to the quest entrance and click on it and see what it says.
I gave up a life of farming to become an Adventurer.

Not disagreeing, but running all the way to Hox or VoD only to discover you've got 20 minutes left on your timer, because you thought "oh, I know it's been at least 3 days since I ran this", is... frustrating (and embarrassing, etc.). It DOES, however, teach you pretty quickly to always check your timers before joining any raid group

    Here is what I suggest:

When the quest is selected on the LFM panel, there will either be no symbol, a yellow flag, or a red flag.

If there is no symbol, you're good.
If there is a yellow flag, then the quest has flagging before-hand, but will still allow you to enter, similar to the end-of-chain quests in necropolis 1-3.
If there is a red flag, then the quest has flagging requirements that MUST be met to even enter, similar to VoN5/6.

I don't think we need to go too in depth with making the system tell the person whether or not they're flagged or anything like that. Just a simple 'this quest needs flagging' symbol seems just fine.

    /signed to this one.

The OP's idea isn't a bad one, per se, but it is more complex and therefore much more likely to be buggy/broken, and will take more time to impliment. This solution, on the other hand, is elegant in its simplicity.
Bronies: For those who get it, no explanation is needed; for those who don't, none will do.

Turbine did not get to where it is today by doing things that were logical and that made sense... clearly there is no chance of this being implemented any time soon.

I jest of course, keep up the good work Turbine and I hope you consider this great suggestion.

While the original idea is a good one and makes the information readily visible I would like to point out that this information is available to the user through the Adventure/Quest Log.

Even more so that the Quests are now searchable. By double clicking the quest on the Adventure tab it will open up the Quest Journal if you have picked up the quest, otherwise it will tell you that you have not started. It gives you the name of the quest giver. Using this information can help you avoid applying for groups you are not eligible.

As for Raid Timers, yes it would be nice if the Quest Journal included the count down. But /Quest is not difficult to use and lists only those quests that you are currently not able to enter due to being on timer. Exception being Raids where you did not pick up the end reward, but still waited 3 days. Here using the quest journal would help you know that because it will have wording telling you to speak to So and So.

Again all of the information is available to us, we just need to use it.

The flag idea is a good one but I would go further. I was thinking of a traffic light system.

If the light was unlit, you are not flagged for the quest/raid.
If the light is red then you have not taken the reward at the end of the raid.
An amber light means the quest/raid is on timer
Green means you are eligible to enter the quest.

This would appear in your current characters group window next to all of the appropriate quests - two traffic lights for quests which can be completed on non-epic and epic quests. When you hovered your mouse over the lfm it would show all of the flagging quests (if any) and the quest pack that the quest/raid belongs to.

This would mean that you'd immediately see if your current character can enter a quest/raid.

    Create a new command

    /notflagged

Displays the list of quests you are not currently flagged for.

    Problem solved.
