Default LOTRO perfect. DDO chat server disconnect

Any idea why LOTRO plays fine on my computer and DDO will not ?

Note that rarely I can load into DDO and play fine. But most of the time as soon as I get a character into the world the chat server soon disconnects me. I can not move around. My character HP bar does not fill up = no solid connection with DDO.

I would like to pre-order the expansion if I can figure this out. I played DDO for years with windows XP, with no problems like this disconnect one. I have not made any hardware changes to my computer in this time EXCEPT for installing a new solid-state drive with Windows 7 on it, along with most of my game installs. So my problem exists on my new hard drive software installation, somewhere...

I have not changed my cable modem service either for years. I can swap around my hard drive boot order, boot to Windows XP and play my older DDO installation there. Its Only my Windows 7 install of DDO that has problems.

Did I read correctly that sometimes you can actually get onto a character and play fine on your Windows 7 installation? If that's the case, then I'm stumped.

After you installed Windows 7 on the new drive, did you make sure to do fresh installs of your games? (No copy and paste of files.)

The dndclient file has the proper permissions to run, and is allowed by your firewall?

There are quite a few other threads in here that describe a problem like this, but without the odd dual-boot situation that allows you to play fine from a different drive in the same rig.

Today I installed Everquest 1 on my solid state drive. Windows 7, 64 bit.

I can get into the game world only to have the game server lose connection within 2 minutes and boot me off. It's just like what happens with D&D Online !

I can play other MMOS without a problem: Guild Wars, LOTRO, EVE, and Path of Exile beta. Even RIFT seemed connection stable, although after a couple months I started getting computer crashes in RIFT so I stopped it.

So I figure it is something to do with how information is being passed through (or BLOCKED by) my "Wireless-G Cable Gateway" ? model WCG200.

I do not know how to troubleshoot this type of problem. Does anyone?

Why would some online games work fine and others will not? Why would one turbine MMO work great and the other does not?

Diablo 3 comes out next month. I got plans to play it on the 15 & 16th. It is an online game now. I am afraid I will lose my mind if this issue keeps me from playing D3. Been waiting 10 years for it.

I noticed you have a similar issue to me as well as an almost identical graphics card. Does that provide anyone in the know with anymore info to explain the problem?

I had similar issues when my internet was messing up. Internet would be fine, I connect to DDO and my whole internet goes down until things like my modem and router can reconfig things. but by that time ddo has disconnected me.

try running a traceroute(tracert) to the server you're trying to connect to(i dunno the hostnames or ip addresses for the servers though).

I was also told to do this and after I did I was told the trace looked fine.

did you get the actual hostname or ip address for the server. or did you just try ddo.com.

it might work the same, but it could be different.

if the tracert looks good then i highly doubt it's an internet issue. it could still be the router(for whatever reason), but it wont be due to the internet route.

if not the router then it'd have to be software related. maybe windows(or 3rd party) firewall. or just corrupt data

A quick and easy thing to try would be to unplug the power cable from your cable modem and router, and then plug them back in after 30 seconds. Then go into your computer and clear the DNS cache:
    http://docs.cpanel.net/twiki/bin/vie...ngBrowserCache

If that doesn't help, my guess is that you might need to configure port forwarding on your router. Different games use different port ranges, which can explain why some games seem to connect fine while others dont.

I've done the router reset and DNS cache flush a few times now, hasn't helped.

I wouldn't know where to start with the port config to be honest.

Not sure, I'm not at home at the moment. I'll check the commands I used when I'm back.

Default Issue with Windows 7 64 bit

I am having I think the same issues.
I have 2 computers almost the same hardware and the same network.
One is 32 bit windows 7 Ultimate.
Second is 64 bit Windows 7 Ultimate.

The system running 64 bit will connect and can move around and chat for 4-6 minutes and then it disconnects.

I have tried port forwarding, re-installing, slow network... None of the tips in the forums are working.

There is no issue with ports or I would not be able to log in and move around or chat. the server is responding. I have the latest DirectX, .net is installed or I wouldn't be able to log into the game.

I am not sure at this point where to go or who to contact. I just payed for a year subscription and if the game doesn't even work on 64 bit, well then Ill just have to tell my CC that there was no disclaimer. But at this point I can prove it is an issue with windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and not others.

I am unable to find assistance in the forums or in support and I have no idea how to open a ticket for support to even get any one to help me.

Ashmaul, have you tried posting your problem as a separate post on the tech support forum where tech savvy users who run 64-bit windows are more likely to see your specific problem and offer advice?

You can submit a tech support ticket via http://support.turbine.com under "submit a ticket" near the top.

I have not seen anyone have any trouble running the game specific to 64 bit. What is different about the two computers? Is the graphics hardware different? Perhaps there's a driver issue with 64-bit. I'm afraid I run 32-bit windows and can't help much.

I posted in support where I think I should.
I have also opened a ticket they say it will be days to get back to me on it.
