I see regenerating smites as more of a compensation for how many mobs you fight per shrine rather than compensation for lacking mounts, similar to how casting classes get SP pools instead of spells per day.

Having caster level = character level is nice, but honestly I'd much rather have the missing spells like bless weapon, shield other, un nerfed holy sword, dispel evil/chaos, greater magic weapon and maybe mark of justice.

On topic: Mounts would be serious out of place in DDO and having a pet substitute just isn't really paladiny. Paladins don't really need compensation for their loss, they need to be buffed so they're a relevant DPS choice. Hopefully soon we'll see what's coming with the enhancement changes and be able to give feedback, but until then all we can do is wait.

Mounts for the pally would increase the damage of them. A charging attack on say a horse back does something like 3 or 4 times the damage a non charging attack does.

Again DDO was built so that mounts are not only not needed but would be way of of place.

NO to mounts for any class or race.

I don't really see the need for paladin mounts... There are a lot of dungeon areas that aren't really "mount friendly" and if you gave them to paladins, the epic whining that would ensue would reach to the heavens until every class had one... One reason I don't think we are going to see a true holy avenger, which would be much better in my opinion.

    Heh, considering DDOs design.

You can only use mounts in public places.
Mounting/dismounting is an action that requires uninterrupted movement like equipping an armour.
You need to mount/dismount when zoning between areas, quests dungeons and shops.

Just think of how fun it would be.

    /mount *waits*
    Gallop to tavern
    /dismount *waits*
Enter tavern. Vendor and heal. Exit.
    /mount *waits*
Travel to guild ship for buffs.
    /dismount
Enters guild ship and buffs. Exit.
    /mount
    Travel to quest entrance
    /dismount
    Enters quest!

True Paladins, as well as some forumites, won't understand the jest you speak not.

I just want to point towards the pathfinder edition. The pallys there get either a mount or can enhance thier weapons for x points (x = 9 max i think).
They get like the artificer here the ability to modify weapons with holy, puregood etc but the enchantments must not expand the cost of a +9 weapon i think.
just make it start at lvl4 and add an additional point /2 lvl. each enchantment is at the cost of an turn undead.
    what can be done?
enhancement bonus up to +7 (effects shields aswell ofc)
    alignement dmg: holy, lawfull, pg
    banes: undead/eviloutsider
    etc etc

Well Pallys lack a bit behind atm in the overall performence. This could be a way to close that gap.
