    Default Fighter Gear Question

Planning a group with friends with a bunch of Half Orcs (more or less). The challenge is to run through the content and not twink the characters at all...strictly play with what these particular characters find.

So with that, I'm curious about some easily "quest findable" gear I might be able to find to help a fighter along.

Another question I have... Considering very limited gear... a DPS, Tactical, or AC type fighter...which might be most practical?

Hey Sook. I saw your post about this on the guild forum. Very nice idea. I would think the dps fighter would be easiest to gear up since you can find decent weapons pretty easy and have a better than decent chance at getting carnifex as an end reward now if you run deleras 3 times, which most people do for xp anyway. I always seem to find decent stuff in tangleroot and the market quests along with STK and waterworks.

This thread hasn't been updated in a while, but it lists a lot of the static loot in the game. It should help you and your party figure out which quests are worth running to acquire gear. This page lists the named item sets; in particular I think the Red Fens sets are worth acquiring if you have no other twink gear (presuming you have Red Fens of course).
a DPS, Tactical, or AC type fighter
AC becomes very gear-intensive in the mid-teens - Gianthold is usually seen as the make-or-break point for up-n-coming AC tanks - so I wouldn't recommend that. OTOH, a S&B tank with the shield feats still gets dmg mitigation (which improves survivability and gives the healers more time to save your @$$) and threat boost (which helps hold aggro so the healers have to worry less about the rest of the party). So even without AC gear, it is still possible to do a useful "low-rent" tank, IMHO. The HO build I posted in your other thread could be tweaked into a THF tank with minimal tomes, if you're interested. Or have a look at my Sentinel Squire.

Otherwise, a HO THF Kensai with some tactics feats is a pretty solid build too. I recommend THF over TWF for "twink-free" or permadeath builds (except rgrs); that way you don't have to worry about getting your DEX up to 17 for ITWF & GTWF. Plus THF builds are easier to gear - after all, you don't need two of every weapon!
