Default low hp --> sound alarm

Like title says it will be really nice an helpfull to associate a sound when you reach and X% of your full hp. So you can concentrate your attention on your gameplay without looking everething 3-5 seconds on your hp bar. It will make the game more confortable and more sophisticated

Something like Zelda but without keeping the sound all the time, just one reproduction without repeat on

ps. Sorry for my bad english , i hope you understand my idea.

There's already one such alarm that sounds when party member health drops to a certain level: "DING"

and seriously now, I think your suggestion might be worthwhile, so long as it could be toggled on or off via UI settings.

I was doing a quest with a hireling yesterday.

I heard a "ding" each time my character or my hireling died (the resurrection shrine wasn't too far away, though).

It's be nice if this "ding" sound alarm could be combined with an own alias script in the chat window so that its sound will appear each time one of the player's specified criteria are met.
"You are a Tiefling. And a Cleric, with the Domain of the Sun. Doesn't that contradict each other ?" "No, all my friends are playing evil. I found that so boring that I decided to be on the good side. And, besides, Sun and Fire, where is the difference, really ?"

I was thinking something like Gauntlet: "Horc Barbarian needs food!"

A one-time tone or something would be cool. And made toggle'able, yes.

Personally I like the idea - provided that it is a personal alarm, not party wide.

I like the idea, but two things:

    1. You should be able to toggle percentage of when the sound plays in your options.
    2. By default the sound is set to off.

First I don't see a disadvantage to this feature as long as it can be toggled.

But here is why I think this is a nice to have and not a must have - Please DEVs keep working on the must haves like bug fixes and Druids:

    1. Position of your Health bar can help prevent this
    2. What is considered Low Health? Different builds and character level will have varied definitions. This will require a calculation based on what? a percentage? So if 25% is determined to be low health an 80 HP character receives the bell when 20HP are left, while a 600HP will get the bell at 150 HP left.

Keep in mind Low health for the 80HP character may actually be at 40 HP or 50%. This could mean needing the ability to customize what low health means on a character by character basis.

Isnt there already a visual effect for this? I seem to remember a visual cue when you have taken both a critical hit (i.e. bypassed fortification) and if you health suddenly drops below a certain point (i.e. you take a lot of damage that leave you alive but low on HP).

I'm not completely clear in this, since I have never taken the time to determine its source. The only one I have any confidence in is the visual queue for the critical hit.
The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get old ones out. Every mind is a building filled with archaic furniture. Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it.

This is the most annoying idea ever. The consequence was that everybody switched it off because of problems with communication by voice chat.

A better way was a blinking hp bar at certain degree (maybe 50% and lower) which will even be recognized without your eyes focused on it. That is if it should be a party wide effect. Otherwise critical hits and reaching <50% health resolve in short red blinks of your screen. No need for an alarm bell....

I'd like the idea of the status spell which shows hp bars and gives the blinking bars so you can have better overview on big screens.

    omg what a genius .

Anyways i confirm it will be great if added with the on/off option.

For people who say it will be noisy ---> could disable it from options.

Don't matter if it is a bell, a bomb sound the important thing is that you notice. Maybe they can add some custom voice (wailing/laments) for race/class. It will be helpfull and i will make the game more dynamic.

well maybe they need to run a txt to voice script over what the hirelings are saying atm
i had the token cleric hireling and had just finished off the 5 billion mobs and turned to see i'd missed one
he was beating quite well on my hireling and i stood there laughing watch the txt come up above the divines head
something along the lines of "would someone please heal me! i need healing now!"

i totally lost it, but regained myself enough to smack the mob so the cleric could heal me.
then i had to select the cleric and tell him to heal himself.
i'm training my 7 yearold atm to be my pocket cleric, but he can only play on weekends
<boo, cause he's better than that tool of a hireling above>

I honestly thought that this thread as about the alarm bells that go off whenever I notice someone joining or in the party has substantially less HP than what is reasonable for the content in question.

I hear bells I tell you!

I tend to think that if you have less than 1/2 of what I have (on a non-HP focused build) then it's fair enough that a few alarm bells are going.
